The LBs will always be good under Chavis
You only have to go back one year to realize who loopy this is.
Karnell Hatcher, Ryan Baker, and Stephan Francois were our LBs for most of the year. They were not good - not as a unit. Francois was fair, Baker was good, and Hatcher was unbelievably bad. Minter came on at the end of the year, and at that point the LBs were good.

I think by the the time the Georgia game rolls around, our defense will have worked out the kinks and we will know how good the D is.

Many people fail to realize if you don't execute the play on the field, the called play will of course look horrible. The play calling was fine in all 3 losses. The execution, or lack thereof was the issue.
So you're blaming the players for lack of execution when they were put in a position to fail? It's hard to execute when you, me, the announcers, and surprise..surprise the opposing team knows exactly what play were running. I don't care if you have the best O-line to ever play football, you're not going to continuously run HB dives successfully if the other team knows exactly what's coming. Which they did all year.

Boom. Our offense is a joke to everyone and even gets mad fun of on television. This is sad

Another one of these. A fantard that is capable of calling all of our plays on offense. Kind of cool how many of these exist on the Rant.

Of course it can. Will it? Who knows? But I think the people bitching about the play calling weren't paying close attention this year. Our play calling did change, substantially, throughout the year. We went from a 68% run/pass split in 2011 to 59% run/pass in 2012. And we threw the ball a lot more in the 2nd half of the year.
We really forced the passing game, which resulted in a lot more games of 250 yards passing, which was unheard of in 2011 and the first half of 2012. In fact, over the second half of the season, we only ran the ball for about 120 yards a game instead of the near 180 yards we were in the first half. The play calling DID shift. It just needs to start working.

preach on, it's hard to see when you're looking at the overall picture and 3 losses. Play calling changed exponentially compared to last year and even the beginning of this year.

Mingo didnt get a lot of reps in 2010 prob around what rasco got this year. Sams season was ended in the first game. So u were basically starting fresh there in 11 like we will in 13. We just need one of the young dts to step up and the dline will be fine.

Yet we still managed to be a top 5 defense and run the table through the SEC. That's my point.

I think this team is going to really surprise some people. Of course the schedule is very difficult but if they can get by the frist 3-4 games I think they could make a serious run. Hopefully they will be ready to kick some arse and tell the doubters to get off the bandwagon!!

The more I think about next year the better I start feeling. This defense will have a sick back 7. The LBs will always be good under Chavis and we have more overall talent there than we've ever had. The secondary will be very good. Jalen Mills was our best cover corner last year as a true FR. Jalen Collins showed some good cover skills in his limited action. Loston showed a ton of improvement last year and Martin/Thompson/Eugene will be more than fine opposite Loston. Throw in some of these stud FR like White & Robinson and potentially Willis and Goodman and, well, DBU lives on. The big question is DL and we've more than proven that we know how to find talent there. I don't think the defense will see as much of a drop off as most are predicting.
