The ending of Django. (spoiler).

Did anyone else feel like the movie was strung out a bit too long? To me Shultz and Candie were carrying the movie and after they died, it seemed like there was a void til the end. Like the movie should have ended at the Candie mansion when Django was having the gun fight with the henchmen. That being said, I still loved the movie and will watch it many more times. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I liked it.
But I can definitely see what you see. I was never bored with it so I'm good with it all the way through. What a great movie!

Yeah the movie was outstanding. Just, to me after Shultz and Candie died, I almost didn't even care if Django hooked up with Broomhilda. I know, I am an a-hole.

Short CSB
I actually met foxx in Nola while he was filming django. He frequented the Tulane gym. He asked if he could hoop with us on our intramural team because our games were always scheduled for around the same time he was there. Dude was a really nice guy. You'd never know he was a celebrity by the way he carries himself around people.

I have heard that about him before and I believe it. I am very impressed with Foxx as an actor. He played a damn good Django. My favorite movie with him is still "Collateral".

I thought he had a great performance as well. Not a popular opinion around here but people just have their biases.

I agree with everything you said. We were actually taking about this tonight because I went with a friend (my 2nd viewing, his first). Everything after the Candie Mansion Shootout was just meh (except for the scene where he went back & shot Stephen ). I still really enjoyed the movie, I just Feel like the time from the beginning of the film to the opening part at the Candie Plantation was better than the last 20 mins or so.

It absolutely lumbered to an end. The Australian cowboys were worthless and the final shoot-out was beyond hokie. It should have ended with the dinner scene.

I don't know. I thought this as well, but on my second viewing I really liked the Australian scene. The ride off on the horse gives an image of heroism and accomplishment. The last thing we remember is Steven saying Djangos story will end as a slave, but this scene squashes that statement. Also the slave in the cage that gazes at him as he rides off, once despising Django, now aw struck and proud. I thought that was pretty cool. Probably could end on that scene as he rides away.

It should have ended with the first shootout in Candyland with the end result of the final shootout.

I think a lot of movies tend to take too long in the final act. This year Django Unchained and Skyfall were both like that for me. Very good movies that would have benefited from a little extra editing.
