2011 was obviously the best team we've ever had, unfortunately that other school had arguably their best ever team as well the same year.

2012 was supposed to be our year, but bad off-field decisions and injuries again hurt the team as well as offensive struggles.

With all the underclassmen leaving, did we miss our chance? Its pretty safe to say 2013 begins a rebuilding process.

We won't win it next year with all the player losses and the schedule. The following year we're breaking in a new QB.

Not winning it at least the next two years.

after 2008, and especially after 2009, i wondered if we'd rebound and get back to that level...and we did...

jan 9 sucked and losing to clemson sucked, but we'll be back in it again soon

In talent only.

The 2011 LSU defense would have chewed up Jamarcus Russell and spit him out.

I dont think we can reasonably expect the defense to be a strong as its been the last few years with this many projected new starters and freshmen needing to play. 2013 more than ever, we need the offense to take a major step forward.

No. We lose experience but still have tons of talent, and we'll continue to. Next year might not be the year but down the road its idiotic to think we won't be a contender

Off-field as in the coaches' box, film room, meeting rooms?

soon doesn't mean next year. think about in 2-3 more years when all of the freshman that played this year are juniors and seniors. We should have a very, very good defense 2-3 years from now. We are just going to struggle next year with you, again.

Honestly, I think the window of opportunity shrank somewhat. But, it can always come back around. The biggest challenge for Miles is to have a change of offensive philosophy. If he doesn't, he is going to have hard time winning the SEC and being in position for another NC.

Same question was asked in 2005, '06, '10, and '11.

LSU is a perennial national title contender under Les Miles.

If we can stay healthy next year, LSU will challenge again.

How much longer is Chavis under contract? That's our window.

I don't know why everyone was saying 2012 was our year. 2011 was our year. Senior QBs, senior leadership on both aides of the ball.
2012 had a first time starter at QB and many other new faces. I get we were still about a min away from the SEC champ game, but 2011 could have been the most dominant year by a program in a long time.

Most people were thinking that Mettenberger was going to be the starter for the 2nd half of the season in 2011. Even before Shady-gate, people were thinking that he would at least get a lot of drives in key games.

In that sense, it was expected that Mett would already be "broken in" before the 2012 season, in which case the super sophomores of 2011 would be there to help him out as juniors before declaring early.

Even with losing Faulk & Mathieu, LSU came within a breath of beating Bama and making it to the SECCG with the NC in sight. It just didn't happen.

2011 was supposed to be Bama's year because of their stacked defense, and I although I haven't followed CFB too closely this year, I still think Bama '11 >> Bama '12.

i agree it's going to be an issue

it's going to be funny seeing the positigers predict an amazing 2013 and then fall back on these excuses when we don't
