$135 to deer hunt Mississippi as a as a non-resident for the weekend???? (Posted on 12/26/12 at 11:13 pm)
I'm heading to my in-laws this weekend in Mississippi and was planning on hunting while I'm there, but not for $135. Am I looking at something wrong? Looks like I would need a 7 day NR All game for $125 and a deer permit for $5 plus fees.

You are definitely looking at it right . A non resident license is right around 400 bucks a year . Is it private property ? If so what are the chances on getting checked ?

Does Mississippi have the quality of deer to warrant that price for a week? I've seen a metric shite ton of deer driving through there but never any studs. Just wondering about their quality of bucks

The $135 is a fair price to hunt for a week. If you are only going to make one or two hunts, I wouldn't worry with buying a license. Depending on where you are going, it is going to be raining most of the day Friday.

Over the whole state no, just like any other state. Lots of land that does produce those monsters though. Look up the MS state records, some giants killed every year.

The 3 day is $125 and includes archery and primitive weapon. The 7 is $125 and does not include archery or primitive weapon. Then $5 for deer permit on either. Non-residents are not supposed to shoot does either.
