Making a trip to BR this weekend to visit some friends. What a good store to pick up a couple good bourbons, other than Churchills? TIA

That's only like a 2200% markup. What a bargain!

Makes the bottle of 23yr that I passed up on at a local store last year seem like a no-brainer bargain.

Also, guy at a liquor store here in Sugar Land told me a few weeks ago he sold a bottle of 23 yr for $2500.00. I almost choked.

On another note, a few weekends ago I was hunting in the Hill Country and swung into a store to grab a few more cigars because my clients had smoked way more than I was thinking they would and I was running low. I also wanted to check out their bourbon selection as it had been a few years since I had been in this liquor store. I snagged a bottle of Barterhouse and asked the lady behind the counter if they had anything special not on the shelves and she said pappy and pointed to a bottle of lot b and 10yr on the shelf behind her. I asked the prices of each and she said 150.00 for 12yr and 135 for 10 yr. I didn't want to pay that for them but my buddy has searched high and low for anything van winkle and came up empty, so I called him to see if he wanted me to get the 12yr for him. He wanted it so I got it. When I called him later to say I got it I mentioned the 10 yr and said he wanted it also. This was late Saturday, so I knew I wouldn't be able to get it that weekend so told him I would have a coworker pick it up the next weekend when they were going back up there. I called the lady Monday to confirm she still had it and if she would hold it for me. Said she had it but didn't hold for people. Okay, no big deal, I will call back Friday to confirm she still had it before sending my coworker by there to get it. Called Friday and was relieved when she said she still had it. She then tells me the price isn't the same and it had gone up to 199 for the 10 yr and 350 for the 12 yr(that wasn't there when I bought the lot B the week before). I asked if she was serious and she said oh yes, people are selling them for 350 on Craigslist. I just laughed and told her nevermind. I guess when I called her that Monday she started researching on something and realized it was something more than a normal bottle of bourbon? Wtf is wrong with people?

Sorry for the long read.

I can not wait until people move on from bourbon and start clearing the shelves of something else.

I think vodka would be a nice switch. Maybe there should be a vodka appreciation thread to deter all the onlookers

Well vodka's been on a good run for the last ten yrs or so.......so I don't know.

I'd be curious to see who buys this bottle, too. Guy should remain anonymous, in my opinion.
