What does Van Winkle taste like? Im not against uppity bourbon by any means, but I hate sissy whiskey.
Like does the first sip make you wince, and does it leave you sucking your teeth?

Speaking of a good whiskey, is anyone else going to take the Wild Turkey Pledge this weekend?

You'll get various opinions, mine won't be one of the popular ones likely.

I think the 10, 12 Lot B and 15 are excellent. In my opinion, the 20 and 23 are over hyped.

Of the special releases, I find the BTAC and FR special releases to be superior.

Edit: The Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye is excellent as well.

I'm new to the hunt, but it appears in BR/ NOLA it's more who you know. As everything else around here. Been to a bunch of stores almost everyone stated they have received their BTAC in the last week but it didn't hit the shelf. 1 is raffling it off on Friday. A couple are still waiting on their delivery. Oh well, I need to make some better bourbon friends before next year's release.
So I'm in a bottle purchasing mood. Is $70 to expensive for the 140proof ECBP? Or should i go with a 4RSB bp instead?

It's a little overpriced but the ECBP is one of my favorites. I'd probably go with that since it's much harder to find. You'll be able to pick up a FRSB any time.

It has become quite the task for most of us to score a few bottles... Couple years ago it sat on shelves now it doesn't see a shelf in most cases. I'm happy with my 4 I managed to snag. Maybe end up with 1/or 2/more if I'm lucky

Definitely gotten harder...and allocations are shrinking it seems. I am very grateful for the store people that I get it from....lots of work for them dealing with it!
