For those interested, there is a bourbon get together at Bourbon Bistro in Lafayette on Evangeline Thruway this Saturday at 1. Some cigar smoking as well. I'm not putting it on but I think I'll attend. Went to their last event, which was a tasting at Marcelo's. I enjoyed it.

Picked up Willett, and a few beers from, Phillips on my ride home from work. Never had it but looking forward to trying it.

That Willett is on my list as well....

I've got it, it's okay... I'd describe it as the white wine of bourbons. Not nearly as oaky/vanilla as many of the premium bourbons out there. To its credit, you don't feel the 94 proof either..

Picked this up this afternoon, any of you guys try it yet?

I've got it. Bought it because of the gold medal claims. I don't think it's nearly as good as 4 roses single barrel for the same money. But let's hear what you think of it

At happy hour a bartender gave me 2 fingers of the 18 for free. Damn, damn good stuff.

Elijah Craig 18yr is my favorite. But I heard they had problems at the distillery so now they are going to age it two more years and charge 30-40 dollars more... just what I heard

I think I agree just about 100% with you. Maybe it's just not the right style for me. But I didn't really enjoy it much.
So if anyone in the Lafayette or BR area wants it, I'll sell it. Only had one small pour.

The Willett bottle is more impressive than what's inside...
It's a good bourbon, but there are much better options in that price range

Started with micheladas for the 500 and ended up drinking over 3/4 of my PVW 15 year with a cousin of mine.
I still have the a unopened 23 but the 15 is actually my favorite. I think the 15 year is the best bang for your buck in the PVW lineup.

Anyone had High West double Rye?
Girl I'm seeing brought me a bottle back from their distillery in Utah.

I have a bottle I just bought this week. I haven't opened it.
I also bought a bottle of the High West Manhattan. Which is two parts rye and one part vermouth, that is then barreled for 90 days. I couldn't drink it.
I'm praying that the rye is better than the Manhattans or I'm out a hundred bucks on the if it is above 40 dollars it must be good purchasing plan.

As a heads up, Costco is running a sale beginning March 4th where Lagavulin 16 will be $52... Great price for a superb single malt...

We don't have one in Louisiana, but they are supposed to be building one soon in Baton Rouge...

Glad it was a good drinking day
I limit myself to a finger or two of PVW every once in a while (actually haven't even opened my second bottle of 23, just enjoying the JPS 18 for the moment), can't imagine going through 3/4 of a bottle in a sitting...
I agree, 15 is best bang for the buck, but I actually enjoyed the 12 rye better than this year's 15 (did a PVW flight at Avenue Pub a month or two ago)...it still was damn good!
23 has more complexity and a bit more bite, but when places like Dorignac's charge $750 for it, you're much better off getting the 15/20...
