i was told from a qualified expert shooting ar's this weekend that the bottom of your butt stock needs to be on your collar bone when shooting, basically most of your rifle stock is off your body up there. Does everyone else shoot like this?

Negative. I shoot an AR/AK like I do my hunting rifle. I would not be surprised to find out that this is wrong, just how I do it. I did not go through a 13 week training course either.

I did build it myself but the mag release is insanely easy to put together...

See if you can get another turn out of your mag release to tighten it a bit.

Also check your mags, if they came all scratched up and everything and not brand new the notch where it locks in could be worn down a bit. In that case take some electrical tape and wrap it (tightly) once or twice.

I've heard of people raising their butt stock up, like halving it in the pit of their shoulder, most so they dont have to move their head that much to get a sight picture, but never heard anything about putting the bottom on your collarbone. That's a new one for me.

I shoot like this. Was never instructed to do so, just how my stock naturally sits on me.

Got my upper in today

Having a hard time getting it on though. The breakdown pins do not push thru... Like something isn't lining up right, what could cause this?

Use a golf tee and try to tap the pins out.

Both fit like shite. I can get the rear in but not the front and vice versa.

I tried putting the DD Upper on my lower and it was the same thing... frick

Well if this upper and your DD upper aren't fitting, seems you have an issue with the lower.
