I don't think this is official yet, Watson just said he'd consider it if asked but nobody has asked him yet

It's not official yet, but all signs are pointing towards this. Every other possible candidate has denied even being considered by the PGA of America except for Fred Couples, and that's just because I haven't seen an article quoting him yet. Toms and Larry Nelson have both denied it, as has Azinger who was a long shot to repeat anyway.
If it is Watson, I'm good with that. He'll provide a much needed change of pace. It'll be interesting to see Tiger's reaction to this since he and Watson are known not to get along real well.

I'm personally not a Watson fan because he's too much of a smug douche, but I love him as the captain. That would be a great pick. He won't be a sissy pushover like the last captain.

There are a few things working against us in 2014 but Tom is not one. He knows how to play across the pond.
Unfortunately this rivalry is similar to Texas-OU in football. The teams are usually similar talent wise but one is in the other's head.

Bump for the official announcement just made on NBC. I don't know if this is going to help the US win, but it can't get any worse than it has been since Watson was last captain.
