Sausage Casings - Maxwell's Ripoff (Posted on 12/5/12 at 4:20 pm)
My significant other was running errands so I had her stop by Maxwell's here in BR to grab some sausage casings for the doe I'm processing tonight. I called ahead to make sure she would get what I needed and when she arrived they told her it was going to be $30/lb. She called thinking that was a bit high (ya think?). I told her to hand the bitter the phone and he said,
"Man I'm glad you called on a cell phone because I was going to tell you to go somewhere else because the manager is trying to rip off your girl. I just couldn't say it before because I was afraid of him hearing me."
I told her to leave and called Matherne's where the guy said, "Man I don't even want to charge you, but I've got to put some kind of price on it. Its going to come out to like $3.00"
The butcher at Matherne's couldn't have been nicer.
