Hey-this is a good bowl game and a great match up with a quality opponet. Primetime on New Year's eve with a national audience. Before Bama started their climb, they went to back to back Independence bowls!!! I'll take this as a springboard to a NC next season!!!

I realize that some on here are calling the season a "disappointment". I'm not one of those. 10-2 with a ton of injuries, suspensions, etc. is a pretty darn solid season.

However, if you aren't upset that the SEC office for the first time ever (well, publically anyway) pushed certain bowls to take certain teams, and by doing that LSU got shoved way down the pecking order in spite of being higher ranked and having beat 2 teams with the same record as LSU, then you don't want the best for LSU.

I don't like the bowl or opponent....but I agree about not whining. It's not going to do a damn thing. Fans have 0 influence...on almost anything.

Chill.

I hope in due time, that the fans will get on board as apparently the team is just happy to have another chance to take the field again as Jarvis Landry apparently said in his tweet and win the darn game and hope that the right teams lose and finish in the top 5 and get ready for next year. What else can we do? As my Dad always told me , "Bitching and complaining about it son, isnt going to change a darn thing."

everyone would feel better if we would have defeated Alabama like we should have.

the rematch last year should not have happened.

Again, we fight to win the SEC title, while Bama eats popcorn after we went undefeated and beat them on their home field...I don't care how good they were, it's not fair they got to sit and home, get all fired up it wasn't them, and then yet, get to backdoor in..

We are getting screwed 2 years in a row on the "bowl selections" ...and frankly the permanent opponents during the regular season is not fair in the least right now. sure it could change, but does Bama really need more advantages?

Bama has the easiest schedule of all the powerhouses...

Why is it again that we're supposed to be upset?

3 SEC teams with 11-1 records. 3 more with 10-2 records. 6 SEC teams in the BCS Final Top 10 with 2 slots available. Given an AQ must have like Wisconsin at 8-5, then add on Northern Illinois for good measure, and you can see that the issue here is a screwed up formula. Two more deserving teams lost out on BCS matchups because of Wis and NIU. These two getting bumped down ripples throughout the selection process and the net result is a Peach Bowl with two 10-2 teams.

Well, LSU was the 4th highest ranked SEC team in the BCS, and also 4th best team in the conference. It is pretty shitty that they ended up further afield in the pecking order behind A&M and USCe who they beat and outrank.

Not that I care...but I see where they come from.

Perceptive, eh? Haha. I am not disappointed we are 10-2 at this point. I am just a little surprised we're not 8-4, considering the lack of consistent offensive punch and one-dimensionality, all season long and especially in the red zone. It boggles the mind, considering the talent LSU has at its disposal (even with the OL injuries, etc) that our offense can be so dull and non-productive. But early on, thanks to our Defense, we got through some of the big hurdles like uSC and aTm. So that's a plus. But my disappointment is with our offense and CLM's hardline/blockhead/oblivious (choose one) refusal to hire a real OC.

At the same time, I am truly shocked to see the SEC office at the center of this year's SEC bowl selections. Pushing aTm at the Cotton, or the loser of the SECCG, and then us to the chickin bowl, is really, really infuriating. If I were Miles or Aleva, at the next SEC meeting, I'd be screaming.

Seriously, how many people already have other plans for New Year's Eve?

Do people really want to watch a football game at that time are they going to be out partying or doing other things?

This is not a team that's rebuilding.

It's not undoable to manage both.

Hell, how many people want to get up first thing after staying up partying all night to watch their team, either?

LSU should have ended up in the NC.

With that said, not a damn thing changed just now. Embrace it.

How do you not know if Miles and Alleva are going to complain about this, but in private? Maybe they want to handle this the right way?

there's no doubt Bama was a better team last year. Deal with it. We got damn lucky 11/5 adn you know it. That Eric Reid INT call goes the other way and we're sitting at home.

We're not getting screwed this year. Who should've gone peach? UGA? They won their division adn had a better regular season than us. They played Bama just as tough as we did. Should they be punished for playing the game like you said we did last year?

USC was not going to rematch clemson, that's just bad business. Sorry.

A&M is a hotter team and will pull higher ratings than us. They finished sprinting while we finished limping. Just the way it is.

And quit bitching about the fricking permanent opponents. nobody was bitching about it when UF sucked last year or during the Zook years while Bama had to play a decent Tennessee during the Zook years. It's just the way it crumbles.

SCar lost Heisman hopeful Lattimore, yet still beat Auburn by 18, and Clemson by double digits.

Sorry, aint buying our "tough road" excuse. Not against Ole Miss, Arky and Auburn. No Sir.

Can someone explain to me how outside of the BCS, any one bowl is "better" than another? Speaking of the Cap One vs Cotton vs Chicken, of course. I could understand if the game wasn't nationally televised or if the conference didn't split the bowl revenues or something along those lines. All it is is a social pecking order of the bowls. The difference in the 3 is only relevant for those teams that never reach such a level of competition. LSU will not lose a single recruit over the bowl selections, nor will they gain any. LSU will not be ranked lower in next year's preseason ranking because of which bowl they played in. So tell me, with some other reason other than "it's a shitty bowl" that this is any worse for LSU (not the fans) than going to the Cotton bowl.

I'm going to guess the bowl games in January/more traditional bowl games are perceived as more prestigious.
