Looking for information on a Visla

I started looking for a new dog myself and like the Visla's. Does anyone have any information on the breed and who might be a good breeder in the Baton Rouge area. I've looked on the internet, but figured my friends on the OB would have a better answer

They're popular falconry dogs because they can be used on fur or feathers.
That's about all I know about them. Nice-looking dogs though.

Vizsla. Pretty much my favorite dog ever. Had one for a couple of years. They love people like no other dog I've been around. Clean. No smell. Very little shed. Needs exercise and company. The breeders are crazy and you'll have to interview for the opportunity to own one. I will eventually get another when the situation is right.

Be aware that they are not cheap and you will have to jump through hoops to be able to buy one of these dogs from members of the club. They are selective...

Yea, good luck getting one from a 'capitalized' Breeder. Look in Texas. I got mine from a family north of Houston, had to interview for the runt and this was just a breeder. Drove my arse over there, from Mississippi, when I got the word.
Most Vizsla owners have two since they can be absolutely neurotic when left alone. They can be absolutely neurotic with a 'sibling' too, just saying.

I got mine from Tx. It was a weird deal.
Mine had to be sold due to bad behavior when I was gone. Mostly barking. Of course, I never heard him bark. They hate to be alone apparently.

My neighbor has a lab/vizla mutt. Littermate to that dog saved that guy who got shot/had his camp burned in grand isle a few months ago.
Never seen a purebred one. They seem like cool dogs, but it seems like there would be a little less BS involved with getting one.

The people are great, just very selective of who they want to join their ranks. They hate to see a non rust colored dog win...

I understand the protectiveness to a certain degree. That's being a hair excessive IMO though. I'll never have one with all that crap

They would probably do a background check which would turn your post count here and discover that it took a couple of days for you take your dog to the vet...

Oh, and to some people who live in a certain part of my town, Vizslas look like red Dobermans. That was an unexpected benefit.

I'd be cool with that. I don't want to give my money to anyone that worried about it. I can find another dog to do the job just as well without having to be interrogated.

Not one like a Viszla. They have thin receivers.
