I liked the Avengers a LOT less the 2nd time. Its fairly clunky at times and it's one saving grace appears to be that it's far better than any of the other non-Iron Man Marvel movies.

TDKR on the other hand, while rushed and flawed, is multi-layers and gives the viewer a good bit to chew on. I was disappointed the first time I saw it but now I like it a lot better.

God I hate people comparing these two movies. They both set out with completely different goals and both completely succeeded. Its a matter of personal taste in which one is better. They're both great films in their own right.

I agree. Just like both of the Iron Man movies, this doesn't hold up as good. They are still some of the best comic book movies ever made, in a time where they are pumped out every month it seems. The first 45 minutes of Iron Man were amazing, but it seriously tailed off after that, being cheesy and suffering from a bad villain. Iron Man 2 was a good sequel and fixed the uninteresting bad guy thing, but overall it wasn't a great movie. The Avengers almost felt like a third Iron Man. It wasn't trying to hide from being cheesy, that's what it was supposed to be, but I'm with you, TDKR is >. Captain America is such a boring character, anything he's going to be in will drag the movie down.

You know I had a page here about why I hated the avengers, and really all of the movies leading up to it save for iron man 1 and norton hulk, but there's no changing people's minds.

I though The Avengers dragged on a bit with a second viewing but still a fun movie even after the awe factor of seeing it the first time wears off.

I agree 100% with this post. The Avengers was fantastic on the first viewing but doesn't really hold up on repeated viewings. TDKR does the opposite for me, I enjoyed the second viewing 10x more than the first.

Of course, that's just my opinion, but I'm glad someone else agrees.

This.

The Avengers is your archetypical summer movie, saturated with eye candy, while TDKR has far more substance, character depth, and thematic elements.

The scene below puts it over the top of The Avengers.

I agree that Dredd 3D was awesome. Might be better than both.

Dredd 3D is going to go down as one of the more underrated movies in a good while. I hope it finds it's audience.
