How can a villain be the MAIN villain in a film if he/she is rarely seen?

This happens constantly in story telling.

Maybe it was just me that inferred that from the story.

which probably means they needed on site leadership. So to say the Talia was not in the league because you didn't see her in BB is silly. She never said she left the league, so she is the one left to rule.

Funny how that is basically what Bruce is doing. Cool symmetry.

nice avatar

I've actually been hearing this quite a bit lately, the avengers just isn't holding up after repeat viewings for many people. I always thought it was highly overrated myself. It's fun at times but damn were people overreacting when it came out calling it one of the best films ever

How often does it happen in action/comic book movies?

They did have on site leadership. His name was Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow. And if Talia had been in Gotham City you might think she would have shown up at Wayne Manor with the rest of the League of Shadows when Ra's al Ghul crashed Bruce's birthday party.

Crane was an ally of the League not in the League itself, but this is besides the point. Just because Talia wasn't in BB doesn't mean she left the LoS at anytime.

These antagonists have very little screen time

Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer - Galactus and Dr. Doom
X2 X-Men United - William Stryker
Iron Man 2 - Ivan Vanko
Captain America: The First Avenger - The Red Skull
Hulk - David Banner (Absorbing Man)
Spider Man 3 - Venom and Sandman

There are plenty of other superhero films in which the you see very little of the main villain.

all the time. Look at Watchmen for example. It was well into the movie before Ozymandias was revealed to be the villain.

As a matter of fact in comic books themselves this happens all the time.

It's implied she left the League of Shadows much more than it's implied she took over the League of Shadows after the death of her father.

All of which were known to be villainous despite their lack of screen time. By the way, William Stryker, Ivan Vanko, the Red Skull, and Sandman got much more screen time than Miranda Tate/Talia al Ghul.

All of these guys were well-established as their film's particular villain by at least the beginning of the third act of each individual film.

It's really isn't but you are trying to make a point. You need to watch the movie with a fresh set of eyes.

Yes...but no other villain presented itself before that time. He was ALWAYS the main villain even though most of his villainous acts occurred off-screen. Contrast that with Talia, who did nothing villainous at all until she stabbed Batman with a knife at the end of the movie.

I'm just going to go ahead and say I've probably seen the movie more times than you have. I just got done watching it when I first started posting in this topic.

Your question is how often does the main villain of films in the genre receive very little screen time. The answer is a lot.

Of course these villains got much more screen time than Ghul, that was the reveal in The Dark Knight Rises. You can't have to much of her.

probably so, but that's not the same as watching it with fresh eyes.

I've seen the movie 5 times and two is all you need to understand the movie completely.

I really like RollTide1987, he is the best Bama poster on TD, but he is flat out denying what this movie and Bane's role in particular in this film. Explainable I guess considering his sig pic
