Just finished season 4. Best season of the first 4. Marwan is the best villain imo, by a wide margin. The subplots were all pretty interesting, nothing really stupid, no mountain lions or Sherry Palmer. Chloe is annoying, but oddly not as annoying as Kim, even though Kim is way hotter. I liked that Mandy showed up and kind of got away with everything. Cool, dark ending and set up for season 5. Overall, Season 4 was great.

My biggest gripe with this season is the almost comical ways Marwan manages to escape when CTU literally has him in their grasp.

Maybe I need to rewatch it cause I seem to remember thinking season 4 was actually the weakest among the first 5. Is it the one where Air Force One crashes?

Also season 6 had a lot of potential.. even had a huge reveal.. and then falls flat, maybe you'll like it in hindsight, unlike most of us who were watching it live.

I loved season 4. I thought 3 was the best. 24 is still one of the best tv shows season 1-5. My only gripe with 5 was the first episode. I don't wanna put any spoilers.

my biggest gripe with the whole series, is how they get some clue and then boom, that's it and they turn out to be right
The only annoying subplot in this one was Driscoll's daughter, but thankfully that was wrapped up early.

Season 5 was my favorite season, but, yea, I remember being a little depressed after the first episode.

Hell no. 1 and 2 were much better. The Marwan escape thing got ridiculous..much more so than a 30 second clip of a mountain lion. No Sherry Palmer is a plus, i will agree. It always bothered me how they never had any closure regarding President Keeler or the guy who shot them down. What kind of plot hole is that?
ETA: Season 5 is without question the best season
