that the Saints don't need to up the ante to keep the talents of Payton on the sidelines next season and beyond. I agree.

The fact that a new contract hasn't been worked out since the NFL gave the green light to negotiate for both side fails the smell test.

There's some BS going on here. And Duncan seem to think SP is waiting to see what happens in D town. Again I agree.

So keep the lube by your bedside folks. SP might be about to stick a high hard one up the Who Dat nation's arse.

Disagree with a lot of it.

Sounds very doom and gloom, which is what Duncan has become over the years.

I've said this before: I don't see Payton leaving Drew. As long as they're together, they have a shot at the title. I can see him going somewhere else after Brees retires.

I do think there is a small chance Payton is waiting to see what will happen in Dallas, but I also think hes a smart coach who knows where he can win more and may just want to see what is offered to him by other teams to get the most out of Benson

And I hope you're right. But the fact that a new deal has not been struck should be a cause for concern.

Triplett is much better IMO.

I used to like Duncan, but the dude is unbearable at times. The Bounty gate fiasco really made me lose some respect. He was anti-Saints in every regard, but couldn't back up why exactly. Just a completely negative point of view on everything Saints. He has been a little better lately though, but this is probably all forced.

frick it, let's put the exclusive franchise tag on Payton. That ought to block other teams from being able to offer...

Great, just as we get over the Brees contract hangover, here we go again. Cue the endless "Payton is a Selfish, Me First bastard" Chorus soon to dominate this board

PAYTON NEEDS TO GET PAID WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP HIM HERE.

Its called open market.

One of the best coaches in the league. This whole thing stinks of Jerry Jones.

If he leaves.... f..ck the NFL, Goodell, and Jones too.

He either does or he doesn't want the Dallas Job. Nothing that happens in FanLand will impact his decision one Iota. I'm just not looking forward to the Handwringing, nailbiting, Anxiety-laden threads that are on the horizon.

First off, the Drew Brees contract was something I believe that most of us knew would get done. I had no stress over it. And if you're trying to blame his contract issue on the rough start you'd be wrong. Notice the improvement that's been set from getting a coach like Vitt, who fires the guys up, coming back allowing focus Kromer to focus the O-line and improving the running game. Notice how everything is clicking again, and looking like... The Saints

After an 0-4 start, we bounce back and win 4 out of the last 5 games. The Saints are playing good, inspired football right now. We are witnessing what may be a historic run, and this a group highly capable of it. Now is no time to hang our heads, or worry about bull shite. No time for negativity. Let's enjoy the run. While we know Payton would be making a huge mistake by leaving, we can't worry about that right now. Let's let THIS season play out. And if I were a big gambler, I'd bet on Payton being her next season. Stop worrying.
