Because they beat the team that could beat the last 20 Super Bowl Champions and an all star team made from the rosters of the last 20 Super Bowl Champions with all selected players being in their prime for that game.

The better question is, how is TAMU not 1?

Yeah, no way LSU shouldn't be 4 on that list.

It's just silly. ESPN hates LSU.

More importantly how in the hell aren't we #2? There is no team on there that could beat us the way things currently stand. As far as A&M being ranked ahead, if Mett hits 2-3 more passes we win by 14+.

The way we are playing right now there is no question in my mind we beat A&M again and by more points than the first game. I don't see A&M as much improved from the begining of the season. I still see a team that comes out hot in the first quarter, then has trouble playing for all 4 quarters.

Not everyone, I believe Palmer has been talking LSU up.

even though florida looks like crap lately, and really all year, they are 3-1 against the top 6.

None of them have played a team with a pulse outside of that group, so their internal records are all that really matters to me.

UF 3-1
LSU 2-2
Bama 1-1
UGA 1-1
A&M 1-2
Scar 1-2

That's the ranking based on what these teams have actually accomplished this season, the SEC rankings are 100% a product of the schedules this year, and have very little to do with the actual differentiation in the teams IMO.

If we are talking about today I'd go...

1- LSU
2- aTm
3- Alabama
4- UGA
5- Florida

Any of the top 4 could be any team above or below on any given day. The emergence of Mett has put lsu above and beyond I believe.

I'm not talking about how I think they should be ranked. Just talking about who is the better of those teams in a best of 5-7 series.

ESPN has to appeal to a broader audience beyond just SEC fans and to satisfy the SEC haters, they have to put other conferences in there to keep the interest high.

How many times do you people have to be reminded that ESPN is for entertainment, it is not credible sports analysis? They are going to do whatever it takes to get eyeballs and sell advertising, including saying ND is a better team than LSU if they have to do it.

This is all great except it has nothing to do with an SEC only ranking.
