Mike D'Antoni signed a four-year deal with the Lakers. Phil Jackson was "asking for the moon," accoring to source familiar w/ the situation.

Lakers won't have D'Antoni in place till later in the week; he's awaiting medical clearance post-knee surgery.

They really hated the Princeton offense. Like really hated it, after 5 games...

Lakers go with Mike D'Antoni over the Zen Master. Wow.

This makes it seem as if Phil wanted the job and the Lakers didnt give it to him. Is that the case? That cant be the case, right?

So just how exactly will D'Antoni help the Lakers' defensive struggles?

I dunno, there are limits. What was all that talk about travel restrictions? If he didn't want to travel with the team that would be a problem for me. But...D'Antoni? Should be interesting

The players were bitching about Brown, especially the superstar...this lead to his firing. He wasn't given a fair shake.

D'Antoni and Kobe can practice their Italian together and reminisce with Steve Nash about their previous failures.

Phil wanted complete control of personnel, tons of money, not travel to away games and only a 1 year commitment.

Money wasn't an issue but they wanted more than a 1 year deal and weren't too excited with him not traveling to away games.

If true, can't blame the Lakers here. Who would hire a coach that will miss 50% of the games?
