I have a 2010 motorguide great white 36v trolling motor that I'm trying to sell. My dad bought our bay boat in the spring, and the boat only had 30 hours on it. During one of our first trips the trolling motor shaft got bent, and we decided to upgrade to the minn kota with iPilot instead of just fixing the bent shaft. I think the shaft can be fixed, but it might have to be replaced. My questions are:

1. Are there any shops around baton rouge that would buy the trolling motor, or would putting an ad on LSM be my best bet?

2. How much should I ask for the trolling motor? I see on basspro's website that they retail for $1,149, but I have no idea what it's worth now that it's a couple years old and the shaft is bent.

I pass through Lafayette and Lake Charles pretty often, so let me know of any shops in those areas that buy used trolling motors.

TIA

I sold mine yesterday on Craig's list.

Front to back boat repair in BR will sell it plus 20% consignment fee on selling price. They get a lot of TM traffic.

Get a machine shop to true up the shaft. Then I will give you $74.95 for it.

I just ran across an old thread about front to back marine. I'll have to call them tomorrow.

Yeti, before you think it's wrecked and in need of selling, stop.
Bring it to front to back, get an estimate.

The guy there told me last year, 'there is nothing on today's TM that I can't replace for far less than a new one.'

Let em look at it first.

That might cover the cost of fixing the shaft. I'm trying to figure out how much it's worth, but I can't find any used 36v on the internet to compare it to. I'm guessing around $400-$500, but I might be way off.

Call Superior trolling motors in Lafayette. They can fix it for sure and maybe sell it for you.

It's definitely not wrecked. It ran perfectly until we bent the shaft, and it still ran after we tried to bend it back into place. The mount is in perfect shape also. We were looking for an excuse to get the remote controlled minn kota, so we didn't even try to fix it. With a fixed/replaced shaft, it will be a great trolling motor. We just don't need it anymore.

Sounds like I'm in the right ballpark then. I can't remember if mine is 101 or 105# thrust, but 400-500 seems like a good price.

If you want to sell, I love this site.

Mikes
Check this guy out, I know they do a lot of repairs, and resale some of them, so he might just buy it from you. Located in Henderson, LA outside of Lafayette on I10.
