Oysters Foch & whatever fish the waiter recommends.

It's sort of a sad place, but try to appreciate it for what it is (or maybe, for what it was) and enjoy yourself, best you can.

Antoine's is one of those places you have to go to once just to experience it and say you've gone...and never go again. Ever.

Baked Alaska is only thing that really is worth it. Make sure you tell them you want it for dessert when you are making your reservation or when your waiter first comes to the table.

...pretty much what's going on ... taking Auntie Buck to see YoYo Ma, and then to Antoine's ... 2 things off the bucket list in one night.

i love Antoine's for what it is. Stick with their traditional dishes. Crabmeat on top of a fish - like flounder, etc.

Baked alaska is a must for big celebrations.

on the cocktail front, in addition to old fashioned, which is great, I love to get a negroni there.

I love it over the holiday's when it's packed but yea, going there on a typical night can be depressing

When's the last time you went? Last time I was there it was packed. It is what it is, an old school New Orleans restaurant. I think its the oldest restaurant in the country. Start with Souflee potatoes with some bernaise sauce to dip them in.(one order is enough for 2). The get the oyster appetizer called Oysters 3 ways(rockefeller, bienville, and thermidor) For an entree, if they have softshell crab get it. The waiter can also offer up suggestions on how the fresh fish is running. If they have nice size pompano, get it. When you make your reservation ask to sit in the annex it is where the locals sit. Finally, if they are not too slammed ask your waiter for a tour of the restaurant after dinner. They will happily give you one. Enjoy. Your welcome.

It isn't what is used to be but it can still be a a good time. Oysters, fish, decent steak. Get loaded and have fun.

Would love to see this place turn the corner. In terms of old line places, Arnaud's is fantastic. No reason Antoine's can't be.

Depending upon how one defines "restaurant" (it was a rather different concept in the 18th and early 19th century than what we think of one today) it is generally considered one of the 5 or 6 oldest in the country still in operation.

Was there a month or two ago, they have a broiled tolapia (yeah, I know) with lump crab. It was actually damn good...... and the gumbo appetizer was just that - gumbo with rice, go figure.

It is the oldest continuing in operation under the same ownership. Since 1840 the Alciatore family have beeb the sole owners.

What Lamba said is just about perfect for enjoying the place. The shrimp remoulade is also very good. Plus you can see my grandfather, aunt and sister on one of the walls.
