Bolt action rifles with scope around $300-350
25-06
7mm-08
22-250
I have saw the savage axis, savage edge, remington 770, mossberg atr, and some marlins around that price.

Anyone have any experience with any of these, pros, cons, etc. looking to pick up something different to play with! Not to be a primary hunter as i have several nice rigs for my everyday hunting. Just looking for something in a different round to play with

Where are you located? Chances are you can find a used Remington 700 with a cheap scope for $350-400.

Here's one on LA Sportsman. Remington 700 .270 w/ scope

And are you dead set on those calibers for some reason?

Im in south ms, the main two i was looking at were the savage axis and the mossberg atr. Can get both with scope for $330 range. I reallllllly like savage rifles but all of mine are the higher end savages and have not heard anything on these axis, but have heard decent reviews on the ATR

If you have higher end rifles, why are you considering cheap rifles?

Great gun...have a .243 that my grandmother gave me for high school graduation....very accurate, and has stopping power.

I have the Remington 770 in .308. I like it even though I've heard others don't like it so much.

Vanguard S2 is my favorite.

That Rem770 is junk. It will be obvious when you hold it.

My model 700 in .270 caliber has never lost a deer for me in 10 years. Shot them from 20 yards to about 240 and I have never had to adjust my scope. Leopold vx 2. I guess the whole setup was roughly $650 I got it in stainless.

I have this and love it. Don't know that you'll outfit it with a scope for the price you're looking at.

Just looking for a different round to play with and dont wana spend the $600-1000 on a gun/scope. I have a safe full of guns.. Some just for hunting, and some just for getting in the field and shooting. So i was just looking for a lower end gun in a different round to fire off at some targets.

I have a .257 Wby Mag in a Vanguard. It is a very pleasant round to shoot, extremely accurate, and very flat.

It's a great deer round as well. Biggest knock is a box of 20 shells is about $70.

I can respect that. It's always fun to get a new toy.

I have a Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55 that is a blast to shoot. I love shooting old military rifles and that round is very close to the .25-06. That gun in particular can be had for $200-250 and is super accurate. Have you gone that route yet? I know you say you have a safe full, so I'm probably telling you something you already know.

You only need four names, Stevens, Marlin, Ruger, and Howa:

1) The Stevens 200 is simply the Savage 110 without the accutrigger;

2) The Marlin X series is one of the best deals out there right now and can be had for right at $300 at Budsgunshop.com;

3) The Ruger American Rifle is getting great reviews and really stands apart in the feel category. It is very slim and lively and can be had from around $350 to a little less than $400 depending upon where you get it; and

4) The Howa can be had at Acadamy or any number of places online. Howa is a Japanese company and they make the Vanguard. The Howa you can get at Acadamy is simply a Weatherby Vanguard without the price increase that comes with the Weatherby name.

The Mosin Nagant should also be viewed as a possiblity with its inexpensive price tag and cool factor.
