Here was a good thread
LINK
Anybody man enough to eat crow? Doubt it.

"Why did we waste his redshirt!" "So stupid to waste the kids redshirt" ect ect ect.

Think before you want to start a thread/complain session. Did you think Les planned on redshirting him if he is playing him in the Idaho game a few weeks into the season? That's not burning a redshirt, thats simply called playing a freshing.

Yes, bad decision. Terrible idea getting him snaps. Hasn't worked out at all.

The Idaho in game thread was pretty awesome too. The whole first half was people calling for Les' head who disappeared after halftime. And fourth quarter guys dogging the coach for playing Hill because obviously they are college coaches as well.

If a freshman plays ONE play all year to burn his redshirt yet that play helps us win the game, then I'm for it.

Pretty sure no one complained when Travis Daniels burned his redshirt to help us win an SEC championship in 2001.

Why do people think a RS skill player is going to have any more impact than a non-RS skill player?

You RS kids for injuries or because they are physically not there yet. If a kid is physically ready, you start playing him. Game action is the only way to really learn the mental part.

R u fricking serious? God you're a bitch. He's a great back and glad we didn't sit him but to start a thread talking shite about people complaining we played a 5th back against Idaho is about as pussy as it gets.

It's a message board, people can speculate. But this month old I told you so crap thread could only be started by a miserable failure at life.

Some people don't want to redshirt. They only want to go to collegs 4 years, then get out. They don't want 5 years.

As I sat in the stadium watching Hill tear it up, I was wondering the same thing!

And it was Travis Daniels who said "I don't play for the name on the jersey ... I play for the team on my helmet" or something like that. THAT was an awesome game.

I didn't post on that thread but I did when someone started touting him for the Heisman after one good game. I did say earlier that I didn't see why we needed another back in the rotation since we already had four and didn't see how we could possibly get enough snaps for five. Then of course Blue got injured and Ware had to sit out one game and was off the fields with cramps for part of the last one.

That is when you make the decision to not redshirt someone. When you need them. Hill is a good back. Is he a lot better than the others? Time will tell but I don't necessarily think so. They have all shown flashes of greatness. Just look at the stats for Hill's breakout game.

Rushing No Gain Loss Net TD Lg Avg
-------------------------------------------------
Jeremy Hill 17 124 0 124 2 50 7.3
Spencer Ware 14 56 1 55 0 11 3.9
Michael Ford 7 41 0 41 0 13 5.9
Kenny Hilliard 10 41 8 33 0 17 3.3

They all did well with Ford once again getting very few carries but being very productive. Hill had a brilliant touchdown run. I hope he has another in this next game. But I also hope the same for the other running backs also. Doesn't matter who gets the job done as long as one or more of them do.

It was a dumb question even before his performance Saturday...it was stupid to want to create a situation where an elite player is eligible for the draft after his freshman year...

We could've grey shirted and then redshirted Patrick Peterson and he'd be eligible to play on this year's team and next year's team...but there's a 0% chance he'd be here...

Yeah I'm not anointing him yet. But without him in the USCe game we lose that game. It seems like everybody has a player they want to get more snaps.

After that game I could easily say that Hilliard should get a drop in workload. I'm sorry but for a big guy he runs soft. If you're going to scream at the other team on 4th and 1 "WE ARE RUNNING THE BALL" then you can't go away from Ware. He has earned that much at least. Hilliard looked bad on 3rd/4th and short. Take away some Hilliard action and get 42's biceps some more carries.
