New Choke for 12ga
Posted by nathannb22 on 10/13/12 at 11:03 am00
I have been searching for a new Full choke for duck season and I like the Trulock Chokes. I was wondering if any of ya'll had one or maybe had a suggestion for a better choke. Anyway this is the Precision Hunter choke. They also have the Super Waterfowl choke that looks pretty BA, but I was wondering, Since the super waterfowl is supposed to hold the pattern much longer would it be hard to hit birds closer in? fwiw I shoot a Browning Maxus.

That is what my son shoots. Will rip a bird up if shot close. In fact a few teal he shot, the head was completely gone.

I use Haydel's in my SX2. I have a mid range and extended.

Haydel's look interesting too. Going to be a hard decision

I use the Browning Grand Passage chokes. I bought the full and the mod. They got good reviews and they seem to work pretty well. I haven't patterned them though, but I have been hunting with them for 2 seasons now and don't have any complaints. Good price as well.

This will be my 3rd season with kicks modified. I love it. Haven't crippled a duck in a while

i really need to get a better chock rather than the one i got for my gun
kicks will probably be my choice
i'm not a great shot, but we cripple more than we should...a good choke will fix that.....hopefully

Yes. That and using 3 1/2" #3 shot ripped the shite out of the teal. Way overkill.

Must learn how to work the birds in. You must be shooting them on the fly. Take the time to work them. You will enjoy the hunt, not the kill.

Are choke tubes interchangeable? Like, are they all threaded the same? Serious question.

Myself, I really don't know. Never tryed changing over to others. When I get home, I will give it a try.

I shoot the patternmaster code black goose. I'll say this, if you aren't a good shot it will embarrass the crap out of you. I find myself focusing on my leads more and shooting less by instincts as I have in the past.

REALLY threw me at the end saying, "I shoot a Browning Maxus FWIW"

I shoot a paternmaster. Pretty badass but not worth the price IMO

I'm sure that a Rem tube will not fit a Browning, ect. I have a few from different guns and I will try to see if they are interchangeable just for the hell of it.
Hell, I know my son has about 10 tubes from other shotguns.

Different brands have different threads. Some exceptions could be Winchester and Browning. I think the SX2 and Golds used the Invecta Plus. Some older models used just Invecta. DON'T force them in, it could cost you a barrel.
