Give both a widely available brand and a mom and pop if you can.

For its price, I actually think Rickey Jackson's is pretty damn good.
ETA, Anyone know who the producer of that is?

The best up here is Down Home brand, but I like to take a hog to Bellvue processing...it's hard to beat.

I actually heard the same thing about that sausage. Every time I see it, I think about that old commercial where you can (surprisingly) make him out to say "I'll have 57 cheeseburgers, 57 fries, oh, and a diet cold drink."
This is what I typically use.

In southwest Louisiana, Rabideaux's is widely available in most grocery stores. I'm not sure why it's not in BR more. It's much better than the stuff produced around here, IMO. I stock up when I'm there.

Veron's is good.
Marcianti's in Kenner is the best in NOLA.
