I really don't get all the bitching Tampa was only down by a touchdown; of course they want to force a fumble. Blame your o-line for sleeping on the play.

I guess you could make an argument for either side. I could see why the Giants would be pissed, but I could also see why the Bucs would violate the "gentlemen" agreement.

Coughlin looked like a fool for throwing a fit over that.

I would side with Schiano if he does this everytime, including when they are winning at the end of the game. It's a free play for the other team when you let them take a knee. Either make it known that you won't take the play off winning or losing, or go with the status quo. Just be consistent.

It's not that hard to see before the ball is snapped that the D line was going to make a push on that line. Blame the O for being lazy.

I officiated a high school game once where a kid who was a DB tried to launch himself at the QB over the line and succeeded in landing on the QB as he kneeled. The tackle complained to me and I told him what he's doing is perfectly legal and that he needed to protect his quarterback. On the next play, the kid tried it again, the tackle caught him in the air and threw him backwards and the kid came down awkwardly with his leg underneath him and snapped his lower leg. Karma is a bitch.

The Tampa Bay players and staff are playing with fire, because they'll never force a fumble on a team kneeling now because everyone will see it coming, and as a result the whole O-line will be firing off the ball at them. I look forward to seeing one of Bucs players get hurt for absolutely no reason.

I gotta give the Tampa coach props here. Last year that team quit on its coach with several games left in the season. To me, all this was about was got giving up until the end.

But if there was intent to injure, well that would open up a different can of worms...maybe Goodell needs to look into this

I get that they want to "play til then end," but I think it was a little much. You've lost the game, there's less than 10 seconds left. Not to mention, has anyone ever gotten the ball back in that type of situation? I've never seen one and I'd be willing to bet there is less than 2 or 3 in the last 50 years, if any. That's my only thing, what's the point? You're not getting it back.

Of course its bush league. He said they want to show people they wont quit. Well guess what dipshit, you should have done more 10, 20 and 30 minutes ago. Then you dont need a freak fumble at the end of the game.

I'll believe the "play to the end" stuff when they do this while down by two possessions. I get that they're trying to get a cheap turnover to have a shot at winning, but the likelihood of it happening when both teams go full speed is basically zero. I expect to see teams not only going full speed when they are kneeling, but also I'm sure some will try to dive through the knees of their O-lineman and hurt their QB, anticipating that the Tampa O-line will be going full speed as well.

here's my thing... why don't teams kneel it from the shotgun?

what tampa bay did was bush league, risked eli manning's knee, and Coughlin was right to have it out

He looked like a bigger fool scoring a TD and giving the Bucs the ball back with a crap load of time. They should have kicked the 20 yd FG to win the game with just a few seconds remaining.

I think it was somewhat cheap, but within the rules. Nothing should have been made of it after the game, it should've ended right there.

Funny he was brought up, because when he played for the Eagles he definitely scored from a freak fumble to win the game while the other team was just running out the clock.

About 20 years ago the Eagles were involved in an unbelievable ending. Can't remember their opponent. Offense was ahead by 5 points with 20 seconds to play. The call was to take a knee. The snap came early and the QB never got a hand on it. The defense scooped it up and ran for the game winning TD.
