Help please on the Univ. of Louisiana

'Louisiana' is getting ready to kick it off against Auburn and they are also on the field playing Oklahoma State at noon. I know this because both are on TV and it says so on their jerseys even though the two squads have different colors. How can this be?

If you're genuinely asking, it's:
ULM (who is playing Auburn) is the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
ULL (who is playing OSU) is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
ULM (who is playing Auburn) is the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
ULL (who is playing OSU) is the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

I suppose some folks can't understand you're joking. I've found that ULM embraces its name, while ULL is ashamed of its name. They want so very much to be more than they are. Alas, they will never be "Louisiana," though they try very, very hard to be.

I live in Dallas. Southwest Texas changed their name to Texas State a few years ago. It didn't improve the school but at least there is one campus and it probably makes them feel empowered and that's good.

Serious question..... Why hasn't Louisiana Monroe put up a fight for that name? Why just give it to Laf?
ETA: If the state is going to allow ULL to be recognized as UL. They really ought to let ULM change their name to something else. The UL- Sucks

ULM has been NLSC, NLU and ULM within a span of about 30 years. They'll soon tire of the latest one too.
