For two years this program has dominated every aspect of nearly every game, with the lone exception of the most important position on the field. It’s not a stretch to say that the quarterback spot—specifically Jefferson and Lee—prevented LSU from winning national championships in 2010 and 2011. Matt Hayes-Sporting News

I agree with this statement. The question is, "Will CLM use the passing game to make the LSU offense nearly impossible to defend?"

I have my doubts.

from what we've seen, i think the real question is will Mettenberger make the most of his 20-25 attempts/game?

Why does it matter if we're getting 5 ypc and winning by 30

We won't truly know the answer until LSU faces a team with a dominant defensive line that can suffocate the run.

That being said, we looked awfully dyanamic and balanced on Saturday night.

Imagine the meltdown on here when Miles starts Bolden against Bama.

What does this even mean? Are you implying that you think Mett hasn't been effective with his throws thus far, or that he has made bad decisions / reads?

Wow the rant is going full retard today.

It seems he used them pretty effectively 13 times in a row last season.

The offense did to a point, but it stopped throwing in the second half. Again, why the apparent reluctance to throw in game situations? Is it not the best type of "practice" which occurs in games. I do not understand.

He had but 18 against UW. 5 drops, but only 18 attempts.

When do you not have doubts? You're one of the biggest negatigers out there. Just look at this prime example.

Liquid, I disagree with you completely on this one. The fact that the team went 13-0 at one point in no way means he understood how to beat Bama the second time around. History says he was clueless. Poor qB play was LSU's undoing in that game. As the Coach, is not LM responsible to use the personnel he has to the best of his ability. Could he not see that Jeff was going nowhere against the gumps. Evidently not.

This will remain a huge flaw that creates serious doubt in my mind at least. Sure, LSU will stomp UW, the Aubies, Miss State et al. But if they lose to the gumps again this year. Well....

So to sum up today so far, we have a section of fans bitching because players were risking injury playing in the game too long and another group that thinks we should have risked more and aired it out in the second half for more practice. I love this place.

You know what is really good for practicing passing? Freaking practice. Probably more so than throwing against a bunch of scrubs that can't defend a pass in a game.

Your diagnosis of the BCSNCG debacle is accurate. However, history is not necessarily going to repeat itself. Miles has a different QB in 2012 and presumably learned something from the disappointment of 1/9. Let the season play out.

He had as many attempts as the game dictated. We were chewing up 4-5 yards per rush in the second half. Throwing the ball just for the sake of throwing it serves no purpose whatsoever except to placate irrational fans who want to see the "Fun & Gun ves. 2.0".

Well what? Are you suggesting we fire Miles if he goes 12-1 this year?

Can you not see that LSU was going no where against the gumps? Why is that so hard to grasp? They beat the crap out of us that night. The whole team was flat from the start of the game. Yes the defense played pretty well all things considered, but everything was just flat.

So it didn't have anything to do with the Oline that night huh? Hurst didn't block a single defender all night long. They were beating our front all night with only 4. They dominated the game and it wouldn't have mattered one bit if we brought in Jarrett Lee who threw 2 picks the first time he saw that same defense 2 months earlier.
