Marine Battery to power a tailgate

Just curious if anyone has done this. We used a generator in the past, but our friend who supplied the generator moved to VA and won't be attending many games. We were looking for a quiet, less expensive alternative if possible, and using a marine battery was brought to my attention.
What voltage would I need to power a TV? That would be about the only thing we would need it for.
Not sure if this is the right board, but TIA.

You would need an inverter too, that's where the 12VDC is converted to 120VAC. You could spend a little more and get a Generac ix800 for $320.

No idea on a marine battery, but when I power one from a truck, I have to start it fairly often to prevent dead battery.

I'd just buy a small generator. Will probably cost less and be less of a hassle in the long run.

What brand of generator would be good? I know the Honda's are awesome, but they are a little more than I want to spend.

Stay away from the loud 2 stroke cheapos. Everybody will hate you. Inverter generators are safe for electronics. Generac ix series is great for the price. 800W is plenty for a tailgate. Put is ab 20' away and never hear it.

If you want something cheap that works harbor freight has a 800 watt portable generator for about $90. i bought one last year to run my radio and string of lights when we go camping. its pretty quiet.

You would need a lot of batteries IMO. Inverter will drain it quick

No clue, I'm sure others will chime in. I just know a battery is not a good alternative. If you cheap out on the battery, you will be replacing it/them once a year. Big deep cycle batteries are also heavy and cumbersome to move around. Then you would also need an inverter as mentioned. You'd probably need a minimum two batteries too...and if you get top of the line gel cells or agms that would set you back around $200/battery. Would be a safer bet going with the generator.

I have the small 2 stroke Harbor Freight generator as well and use it pretty much year round for all types of things including tailgating.
Don't listen to what that other poster said about people hating you because of the noise,they're pretty damn quiet and will run for over 3 hours on 1 gallon of fuel.

I went on their website and read some of the reviews. The one they have is an 800W for $129.99. That comes with a 90-day manufacturer's warranty, so I am thinking about purchasing it. Are there any other places that you could get it for cheaper? $130 isnt bad at all, but if people are getting the same thing for $90-$100, I will buy from there.

that's pretty weak bro. I have an F250 and my tailgate is pretty easy to let down and lift up. It even has the extra weight of the handle bar and drop step too.

I am just trying to run one 32 inch TV off of it... thats really it. We tailgate with about 15-20 people, but we only bring one TV.
