Anybody use a 16 ga. for quail/dove hunting? Found a deal on a 16 ga Citori O/U and was thinking about pulling the trigger. What say you?

I have a 16 gauge Fox sxs that I carry from time to time and like it. The 16 Gauge Forum might have a bit more info. LINK

I would buy it.

Now where do you go to quail hunt? It's gone to hell in a handbasket. There are very few wild coveys anymore.

Thanks for the info Wick

I go to a hunting lodge outside Amite, LA. No wild coveys though. They put them out. Very hard to find wild quail in large quantities anymore

Those shells get expensive for doave and cheap for wild Louisisna quail. I want to pick up a nice 20 ga o/u with 30" barrels for doves...

I have an old Sweet 16 that I dove hunt with sometimes.

Mostly a nostalgia thing, since its been passed down to me

I'd buy that in a heart beat.

I'd love to have a .16, .20 and .28.

Don't mention it

In all seriousness, I grew up shooting 16 gauges and love them for bird and small game hunting. Pull the trigger man.

My 16 gauge Wingmaster comes out every opening day of Dove season. Fine squirrel gun too.

1. 20 gauge = plenty for quail or dove (as is 16 gauge).

2. Ammo for 16 gauge will get expensive (compared to 12 or 20) if you plan on chooting a lot.

I have a sweet 16 and a remington 11-48. They are all I dove hunt with. Mostly just the sweet 16. The remington doesn't hold a pattern for shite so I dont use it much. 16 gauge was made for the dove field in my opinion. After an afternoon of shooting my shoulder thanks me for not using a 12 gauge.

Good gun, but shells are hard to find and cost extra.
