ESPN says Saints have offered Brees $19.25 million, just more than Peyton Manning average. ESPN says Brees asking for $20.5 million and that he won't show up to training camp without a long-term deal.

6 mill apart over 5 years... this is dumb.

I thought the Saints would offer at least 20 mil.

It's strategery. Its the last week of negotiations, one of the sides is going to look like they caved and will become the good guy. So they let out the numbers today just so they can come back and say they caved in to save the team. That's how I see it anyway

They refer to it as posturing. I don't care who caves, it just needs to happen.

If the saints haven't heard back from an offer made in June.. It doesn't take a dumbass realize the answer is no.

Indeed. I am sure the Saints have an ink pen ready for him to sign the June offer to make him the highest paid player in history.
