Total Current Value - (Your Cumulative Contributions + Cumulative Company Match)
(Your Cumulative Contributions + Cumulative Company Match)
Mine is currently a tad less than -1% (-.89% to be exact)....for most of my working life, it has been much worse than that, I'm just now getting close to moving into the green overall. What's your %? Also, as a follow-up, what is your age? (I'm 31)
Example:
Total Current 401k Value = 26,688
My LifeToDate Contributions = 20,463
Employer Match LifeToDate = 6,464
Total My Contributions + Employer Contributions = 26,927
Cumulative Return = 26,688 - 26,927 / 26,927
(Your Cumulative Contributions + Cumulative Company Match)

not really looking for YTD numbers here...Looking more since 401k inception based on total cumulative dollars invested (your cumulative contributions + cumalative company match)

I've switched jobs a couple of times over the last 12 years so, different 401k, Ira rollovers, etc. So calculating a return would take awhile.
But I graduated in 2000 so I feel your pain of not getting historical market returns over that period. Hopefully next 30 years will treat us better......

Since 1986 same company
12.16%
If I did it correct, I put in $136,000 in 401k

Mine sucks. Actually a Simple IRA that we started at our partnership @ 2003. My gain is at best a few percentage points over the life of the damn thing.

Total Current 401k Value = 36,795
My LifeToDate Contributions = 21,860
Employer Match LifeToDate = 10,467
Total My Contributions + Employer Contributions = 32,327
Cumulative Return = 36,795 - 32,327 / 32,327 = 0.13
I'm 26 and approx. 4 years into a 401k
