After the Lakers recently made it clear that they were actively shopping Gasol, the rumor mill has been churning out interested teams left in right. Among the reported teams in the hunt for the big man are the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Hornets and Grizzlies. All of the reports, however, have been speculation until the former NBA Insider Peter Vecsey broke the news of the Grizzlies offering up Randolph.

Had not heard this yet, but if speculation of 3 teams became fact for one, who knows.

Any deal would certainly have to involve Lewis (and the simple fact that we haven't cut him yet speaks volumes on our future, Benson must have given the OK to take back a good amount of salary for Lewis if it helps us). I don't know if I like it or not, but something like Lewis + 10 for Gasol would sure as shite make us a better team.

DO NOT WANT

Gasol will be so disinterested if he went to the Hornets after playing for the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired after being traded here. No way in hell is he worth giving up a top 10 pick in a rebuilding year.

Im confused, but doesn't he have a really expensive contract. Like more than Kobe even?

Maybe.

He'd be giving up $40m if he did that. Not to mention that it would actually free up the entire Lewis contract. If a few weeks ago someone asked you if you would trade the #10 pick to completely wipe out Ariza and Okafor's deals, I sure as shite would have said yes.

I posted a thread on this a couple days ago.

I think Gasol is very interesting. Gordon/Davis/Gasol is a pretty stout core. People love to shite on Gasol, but he is very very good. But does it put them into the WCF or Finals? I don't know and it kills the flexibility until Gasol is off the books. If there were a way to do it and keep 10, I'm all about it. I doubt that is realistic, so I say sit tight.

2/$38m for Pau vs 2/$47m for Kobe.

I'm not necessarily a huge fan of this, but I would be excited if it happened.

JJ
Gordon
Aminu ( :puke: )
Davis
Gasol

with a solid bench, we're talking going from the 4th worst record in the NBA to possibly the 4th seed in a stacked western conference.

motherfricking this...the last thing I want on a rebuilding team is a 32 year old disinterested Euro with a 38 M dollar contract.

Good player but doesn't make any sense for building.

I wouldnt be totally against it, this move means we are trying to win now.If Gordon is the player I believe he is, I have no problem going for it. Demps would have to upgrade the small forward position also. Ive been going to Hornets games since they have come to New Orleans, and I am tired of 1st round exits and not making the playoffs.

I really think the #10 needs to be used to find the 3rd wheel, but if Demps doesn't think we'll get the 3rd star with the #10 then why not? I'd rather Gasol and playoff runs the next 2 years more than Zeller and being 10th in the West the next 2 years.

This.

And so in this proposed scenerio we've traded #10, dumped Okafor and Ariza and added Pau Gasol. Why not do this?

I'm confused about this train of thought? Why stay in rebuild mode if you have a move that could make you a contender in the West right now? Do you think Eric Gordon wants us to make a move and try to win now?
I understood the tankers to an extent but this is just baffling? Are you suggesting we should try and tank another year and hope to get lucky in the draft again? Are you just saying you want to wait and try to make a splash in FA after next season?

It isn't like he would tie down our books, Gasol is only a two year deal and would be an expiring contract after next season, if the Lakers are willing to trade a top 10 big man for the #10 pick in the draft + a player that we are just going to pay to go away you don't even think twice about it. Hell i would even throw in a second round pick for next year (assuming we even have one)

Gay makes more sense than Pau - easily attainable younger and fits a more important position than 5
