Wife is out of town this weekend, and i have been wanting to try these.
Was thinking about browning and then braising in beef stock/red wine and some mirepoix and herbs and seasonings.
Anyone have a good recipe?

Sounds like you have a good recipe for Ox Tails. Don't think you could do much better that what you're talking about.

Winner Winner Oxtail Dinner!

Sounds delicious. I'm a sucker for good oxtail. I was just talking about the oxtail at Ronnie's Ribs a few threads ago.

Never had them but that sounds great. Do most grocery stores carry them or only certain ones? I'll have to look for them.

My associated grocer always has them, but I do kinda live in the country.

When I make French onion soup, I use ox tails to make the stock.

turned out very good, very rich though.
Got about 2+lbs ox tails. Seasoned with cajun seasonings, coated with flour and then browned in olive oil. Removed from pan.
One purple onion sliced, 3 stalks celery diced, 2 carrots peeled and chopped. 5 whole cloves garlic rough chop. Sauteed the miripoix and then added the garlic. Deglazed pot with one cup red wine. Then added 1/2 bunch chopped parsley, about 1or2 tablespoons fresh thyme, and about 2 tablespoons tomatoe paste. Added crushed red pepper, and salt to taste. Added one can chopped tomatoes and 8oz fresh sliced mushrooms. Added back the oxtails and covered with beef stock (about 2 cups). Sealed dutch oven with foil and top and into 300 degree oven for 3-4 hours.
I just ate this as is, but it would be great over noodles, polenta, or even some grits or rice

That would be wicked with grits.
