The bread will not be good in Alex, but try Spirit's at Jackson & Texas. About as good as it gets in Alex. and I am from there.

Spirit's is advertised as a "2 Napkin" Roast Beef Poboy, in comparison to say Acme or R & O's "10 to 12 Napkin Poboy".

Which I'd say is a pretty accurate depiction

If I were driving through Ellic, a personal nightmare, I would stop at Critic's Choice for a Philly cheese steak or a chicken grinder instead of trying to find a good roast beef poboy anywhere around there.

I stop in Spirits when I am driving through Alex and usually like the place. I had the RB poboy around beginning of May on a Tuesday night. Lee was not there (we went to LSU and were in same fraternity) and we were disappointed in our selections. RB poboy and shrimp poboy were not up to the standards established by past visits. Not trying to run them down at all, because past meals there were really good. I know I will be back - I am guessing this was more of a owner away quality suffering type situation.
