One night in NOLA, hadn't been to either yet. Heard great things about both.

Stella is def. a much higher rated restaurant.
Go to their website and then read some reviews and make sure that the kind of food and that kind of service is something you like.
I've seen it mentioned before that the Stella "expeience" is not for everyone.

It really depends on what your tastes are. If you are an adventurous diner and are not afraid to expand your horizons, Stella! is the one to choose.

If you are more traditional, Le Foret.

FWIW, I have dined at both places, and have not been overly impressed with Le Foret as others have. The food was good, but not very creative. Stella! is the entire package, great food, creative preparations, and nice service and atmosphere.

As noted above, the food is very gourmet and kind of "out there". Some have said the service is very stiff and the waiters lacked any personality.
I'm sure that could just depend on who you get and what kind of night they have, but it seems they are going for that very formal service angle.

I LOVED Le Foret. Loved it. I highly recommend it.

Stella is great too, but I did not enjoy the atmosphere there, personally.

Truly depends on what you want.

Le Foret definitely has a warmer vibe to it and is much more romantic.

Just an FYI, but two former Stella! chefs are now running Le Foret's kitchen. I think they were number 2 and 3 in charge at Stella!

Don't know why Stella! has such an incredibly high turnover rate, but it might have to do with the big cheese.

Didn't the original VIP chef who helped open the place come on here and state something like this? I thought I remember someone saying the the owner had issues and such.

truth

great place, but it woulnd't kill their ambiance to have the waiters smile every now and again

Might be worth another try soon.
