ESPN article on Taylor

I know there is another Adam Taylor thread, but it appears to be anchored. Enjoy!
I think this is a great commit.
quote:
"They stuck with me through the injury," said Taylor of LSU. "Hopefully, this kind of thing never happens again. But if it does, I know they'll stick by me and they'll have a great support system."
quote:
He had offers from Baylor, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Wisconsin, among others. Many also stuck with him through his injury, but he was impressed by LSU and assistant coach Thomas McGaughey, who was the Tigers' point man in his recruiting process.
I think this is a great commit.

The reason the other thread got anchored and why this one likely will as well is because no one is real sure if he committed or not, so I think Chicken is waiting on a more substantial answer before letting it go

JMO but ESPN should be a substantial enough source not to get a thread anchored. I know they're not perfect, especially in recruiting, but it's the largest sports media outlet in the world. If they are reporting it, there's no further harm in posting it here.

Okay, sorry to clutter the board with another anchored thread. I quit following the other one after the fifth page. ESPN and 247 sports are listing him as a committ, but Scout and Rivals are not.

Ponamsky just said on 104.5 ESPN that LSU wants him to come to camp before they accept his commitment. Just for a little perspective, Zach Mettenberger is the only recruit that LSU has accepted a commitment from without an on-campus visit. DP said that they are still recruiting him very hard and that it's a better than average chance he'll be a part of this class. LSU just wants to wait to see him on campus before they accept his commitment publicly.
ETA: All of this came directly out of Ponamsky's mouth. I just summerized it.

Dang, this guy's sophomore film looks like Justin Vincent. This is 100% a compliment. JV was a beast, parade all-american.

Yeah ESPN has never broken news that turned out to not be true

quote:And I acknowledged that. Shea and Sonny have been wrong on many occasions before, but no one would say a thread needs anchoring if they broke an otherwise unsubstantiated story. I didn't say ESPN couldn't be wrong, just that an ESPN link should be enough to keep a thread from getting anchored.

The 'news organizations' that have spoken with the player and his coach are reporting the commitment. The ones with sources on or close to the staff are not reporting the commitment. I'll side with Scout and BBI on this and say his commitment is not valid at this time.
*edited to add the 's' on news.

I will side with them also, but I still don't think this thread needs to be anchored. Title doesn't even mention a commitment, just an article about him.

^^^^
Exactly. How could you delete a thread that's called "ESPN article on Taylor" ? He even provided quotes proving Taylor spoke with ESPN

I just don't understand how LSU is allowing all this confusion with offers. it just doesn't sound good. I fear we will lose several players with this camp requirement but so be it.

I have no idea if Taylor is committed or not but can say that no player or HS coach should go public with a statement on committing if they had not yet called the college HC to commit and have it accepted.
They should know that it's not a real commit until the kid talks to Miles.

chill out Larry, OTL has you conditioned to be making a much bigger deal of this than it is. If Taylor can come to camp in a month or so and run, it'll be straight.

Him and Blue always remind me of Eric Dickerson. NOt that they are at that level, but just tall backs with that sorta upright style. Deceptively fast.

LSU has taken a few chances on the recruiting trail and had them pay off down the road and the Tigers staff certainly are trusting their evaluation skills by grabbing a commitment from Katy (Texas) running back Adam Taylor, who suffered a knee injury in his first game last fall.
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound back was one of the top players in the state for his powerhouse high school program and despite the injury he had offers from Alabama, Oklahoma and Wisconsin among others.
Taylor rushed for 1,563 yards and 19 touchdowns as a sophomore and was one of the fastest players in the Houston area. He's expected to be 100% by the fall, if not before, and becomes LSU's 10th commitment for the class of 2013 and first from Texas.

The Locals are excited about him committing to an SEC School. Katy is a big time program over here. won state championships in 1959, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2008. We need to recruit these kids.
The Grind (Katy's Hardest Hitting Sports News)
Him leaving the state seems to be a big deal for the folks in Katy.
He should know Danielle Hunter real well. They played against each of in conference games.

Junior running back Adam Taylor has made Katy HIgh School History when he gave his verbal comitment to LSU trading in a red and white tiger uniform for a gold and purple one after his senior season. The 6'1" 215 lb tail back is the first ever Katy Tiger to commit to an SEC School.
