Favorite kind of tomato

I have particularly grown fond of Romas, especially for cooking.
Cherry tomatoes are my favorite to eat by themselves and thats a bold statement for me bc all of my life up until 4 months ago, I would not eat raw tomatoes. Now i sometimes crave them with a touch of salt and pepper.
The big ones (dont know what kind.. dont care) are light on color, and have too big of a core. I dont think ill ever use those again for my red gravies and definitely not for this Tomato Basil soup i got goin.
Thoughts? Whats your favorite tomato?

creole tomatoes. not the ones that they sell up here in baton rouge labeled "creole" tomatoes. i mean the ones grown in St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes. Ugly as all sin, but anything less would be uncivilized...

I've grown Better Boys and loved them. This season I'm trying Beefmaster as a second crop that won't produce till August or Sept.

Most all creole tomatos you buy in Baton Rouge come from Plaquemines and St Bernard parishes.

Hard to beat. I've not had a whole lot of luck growing creole maters up here. Probably my favorite for a good, acidic, easy to grow tomater is an Arkansas Travler.

Heirloom varieties suited to local climate.
www.seedsavers.org has an excellent selection.
Nebraska Wedding (orange) is an excellent producer, drought tolerant, and pretty resistant to pests. Works great here. And with heirloom varieties you can save your own seeds and reproduce this year's crop without buying more seeds.
Hybrids like you buy at Walmart and other garden centers, while good growers, do not breed true and thus any seeds saved from those fruits are a shot in the dark in terms of what they will produce.
Heirlooms are the best for home growers.
Best taste, biggest variety, and breed true.
