Exactly how good is Xavier Woods? TCU is starting to take a closer look at him and may be offered soon.

Hes definitely a D1 prospect, but he's not on LSUs radar.

If that answers your question.

Can't believe TCU hasn't offered. He's LSU material in my opinion, but I'm a WM homer. Hopefully he can wow LSU. Kid's a ball hawk.

I wouldn't read anything into it. TCU is doing their recruiting differently this year where they had focused mainly on DFW kids early on. Only now are they really starting to look beyond that area to some other players so it is not a reflection on Woods as it is one of geography.

At this point only Houston and Tulane offered so obviously some schools are reluctant to offer for whatever reason. But then again, it is only April and one new offer could bring in a lot of me too offers real quickly.

Great player but not high level SEC material. TCU, Arkansas, Miss St. type talent level. He really benefited from a stellar special teams group that made him deadly in the return game. As far as a pure corner he's not what LSU is looking for.

And while we are it? Anybody else looking to be a D1 prospect from West Monroe in the next few years or is it too early to tell? BTW, I didn't see any names listed in the Rivals database but that doesn't mean anything.

Just off the top of my head, Marklyn England (DT) and Steven Jones (RB). Jones will only be a junior and England will be a senior.

TCU fan,

TCU was at Barbe earlier in the week checking on Smith (2013 TE) and Quinn (2014 WR).

Good to know. TCU seems to be making the rounds now. I will look those recruits up.

I think Woods can play at LSU but we're just out of realistic space at CB in this class with the few guys we have left on the board. Just like with Hunter, McFarland and Lathan, Woods would be a good get for TCU. All 4 have LSU caliber talent but ran up against numbers. I hope he goes to TCU if we're not gonna offer. Good coaching and will be prepared for the NFL if he works to get there.

Funny you mentioned that because he said he was looking for a school that could prepare himself for the NFL and had good coaching in a recent interview.

Woods is a good player. Very fast. He could do well at TCU and with their defensive rep it would be a very good fit.

Junior Highlights

Kid started the year at WR and switched to CB to help the team. He's 6'0 190. I'd say 4.5ish not positive on 40. He's been to both LSU and Bama's spring game and was told he could earn an offer at camp this summer. If its not LSU, I'd love for him to go to TCU.

ETA: He's been invited to Rivals camp as well. Not sure where/when, just saw that looking over some texts with his Uncle.

Saw the film on both these players. Smith's film is limited so was hard to really tell what he could do but his offer sheet is extensive.

Quinn looks like he could be a solid prospect too. Will be interesting to see what he does this year as many recruits get a little bigger and faster their junior year. He already looks pretty fast on film right now and surprising Barbe was willing to use a sophomore in so many different ways.

Smith is a top 250 player, LSU lock, and Quinn is a possible 5 star candidate in 2014.

Don't get your hopes up lol

I think if we show we can throw the ball well this fall then Smith is ours. I really think he just wants to see us throw it and use the TE more.

Agree. When I watch Quinn's film, I see a WR, RB, Wildcat QB, a good blocker, and a punt returner, as a sophomore in 5A. The Barbe coaches do a great job with that offense! What is interesting is Quinn's 200m track times on the internet are comparable to the WR's we just signed, as well as the times of our current WR when they were in high school.

The TSD premium site says that he is not playing baseball this summer and working on what you said, getting bigger and faster, going to camps, etc. Smith has an LSU offer already, Quiinn does not, so who knows, we fall asleep on him and it could be TCU or another SEC school?

I think Woods is an SEC talent and for sure a D-1 guy! West Monroe played Barbe on TV this year, and Woods and company slowed the Barbe offense down as good as anybody, especially in the red zone. He was a part of what may have been the best defense in the state. TCU is getting a couple of them!

Houston. Went to both LSU Junior Days and Spring Game. Went to Bama for the Spring Game and I think a Junior Day, not positive. Invited to LSU, Rivals, and Bama camps this summer
