and n top of that they were under seasoned. The potatoes tasted like soggy crawfish turds. I bet I could poop through a key hole

Yep.

Shame, too, because the crawfish themselves were beautiful. Perfect size.

"purge" as in dump a shitload of salt on them while they are chilling in an ice chest of water?

I think all he did was give it a 5 second rinse off with th garden hose. They were still sitting in dark water in the ice chest. The pot was brown by the end of the boil

So the problem isn't that he didn't purge them... it's that he didn't clean them.

I see now. Does using salt actually help? I've heard it makes them regurgitate dirt.

I didn't see him... I saw a garden hose next to the chest, but I guarantee you that water wasn't coming out clear. I think it was a quick rinse off

"purging" is not the same as washing. Washing is crutial - purging is debatable.

You actually trusted a guy from Tejas to know how to cook bugs? How silly(drunk or stoned) do you have to be to do that?

My company has an annual crawfish boil. When I started here they had Mexie's boiling them. I quickly volunteered to take over the duties.

I've eaten them not rinsed off before (no running water where we were) and they were pretty damn good. They were dirty, but the meat was still clean. It isn't the end of the world if there's some duck seed and dirt on em.

My brother in law had the exact opposite problem. Puny crawfish seasoned well.
