Can anyone confirm or deny? I heard a panera is being built in Towne Center.

Pretty sure I've heard that news too. No link or any proof on hand but it might be on the advocate website for proof.

Sad that BR gets excited about another chain restaurant coming to town.

I'm actually mildly excited about the Portico's place opening up on Coursey where Calendar's used to be.

this has been the rumor for over a year now but I haven't seen any sign of it

I like Panera, I'm excited about it, and the food snobs whining about this are lame. Not every chain is a bad thing and when you have a city the size of Baton Rouge with limited geographical constraints, this sort of thing happens. It's normal.

I discovered when working up north that Panera>than other chains when quick food is needed.

The Panera chain is headquarted in STL. The thing that is great about it, is that the breads are good if you know what bread is supposed to be in fact. The lunchie/munchies are spot on in some cases or mehish. Compare the breads against any grocery stores crap as long as you want.

Yeah it's a regular stop for me when I'm going to Destin to either hit up the one in Mobile (or Daphne or Spanish Fort, whatever that stop is) or the one right when you get off the Midway Bridge. And I've hit up the one in Tallahassee a few times and it's always consistent and good stuff IMO.

I discovered it when I worked a week in BFE, Ohio. The rest of the group was going out every night to Applebees, Chilis, Bubba Gump shrimp Co. and things like that. I would rather call home, decompress and eat Panera across the street from my hotel.

We always stop at the Panera in Spanish Fort whenever we drive to Destin. Good, quick food; much better than fast food.
There's also a plan for a Metairie Panera Bread location, but I have no idea where it'll be located. Off of Veterans Blvd. maybe??

I agree. If something is good who cares who owns it.
