In my second installment in a series of posting unpopular reviews of classic movies, I present for deconstruction:

Taxi Driver

I can see the merits of it being a pinnacle in the "counterculture" fad, and for having some innovative filming techniques, but on the whole, meh.

I thought it drug on a little to long and was anti-climactic. Jodie Foster was phenomenal for a 13 year old actress though. Bravo.

De Niro was okay, but not superb, and Cybil Sheppard was crap. I did like Albert Brooks though.

Thoughts?

One of my favorite 70s movies, like Top 3.

No need to be mean. I was excited for it and just was a little let down. I felt that the tragi-hero was some what of a cop out ending.

Nah, any time a movie gives you one of the most classic scenes in cinema history, it's hard to call it overrated. You talking to me? Who the hell are you talking to, you talking to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the frick do you think you're talking to?

He's not a hero and really, not that tragic. It's ironic.

I totally agree with your take on the movie. I am not a fan.

But I do have to say I wouldn't describe the ending as anticlimactic. I mean, what else could have happened to make the climax more eventful or shocking???

I am no film expert and may be completely wrong but I just thought he was a f'ing nut who, as a very small part of the film, was made out to be a hero.

I never focused on hero, just super wacko that let a crazy environment twist him up.
