re: To move or not to move: Would you return to Mandeville from Houston? UPDATED - Rick Rickles
Other factor, would be leaving federal job for private sector. Pay is more base, but LA state tax, sales tax, insurance rates higher, etc eat the difference pretty much. Bonus comp is nice but not a guarantee. Benefits meh, but could use TRICARE as an air guard member. ...

Would you live in NOLA or commute from North Shore? Work from home 100% Do you commute now and if so, how far? Yes, 10 min. Do you have kids? Yes. If living in NOLA, can you afford private schools? Would use Mandeville schools. What do you like about Houston? Zoo, ...

"Rhino-lining" fender flares and beadlock rims? - Rick Rickles
Anyone done this? Tired of getting scuffs and scrapes on truck's fender flares from shopping carts and the like. Thinking of going this route. Beadlocks would be to match, just for looks. Only concern is that the vibration from driving would allow the abrasive surface of the lining to eat at ...
This is a lot of work for a spam account to do for that one big advert.
Huh? What do you mean? I have this stove in my home. I had to pay freaking $1100 to run a 50v 240 line across the home to the kitchen to power it. I'm using the own laptop right now. It's not spam. It's real. ...

re: What is your ideal figure for annual salary/compensation? - Rick Rickles
Can't beat the job security, paid time off and health benefits. If it's about lack of professional development and what not, then it'd be wise to move. If's it's about not being challenged, well I think a lot of people go through that if they work the same job for long enough. I'd stick it ou...
They take 28% from me in taxes, that's fricking ridiculous. The government needs a THIRD of what we make? On top of that I pay state income tax in LA when I live in a state that doesn't have a state income tax.
Why do you pay LA ICT when living elsewhere? Maintaining residen...
OP sounds similar to my situation. I'm also federal employee with 3 years in, a little over $80k in salary, which isn't that great living in San Diego. If I were earning $100k that would be ideal but I'm single, I'm not hurting.
Yea. 3.5 years here. You work DoD?
I could...
