No idea. MSRP is right at $36k. They told me I could get the standard "1,500 off" but that doesn't get me quite down to the invoice price, much less any lower.
I am starting to guess I won't have any room to make them move since the vehicle isn't on site- why would they order it to sell it to me below invoice, right?

What is the downside of walking in armed with information and saying "this is the price I need, no negotiations"? If they don't hit that price then you walk... is it better to slow play and make them invest time in you so that you are costing them something?

By saying that...you've already started negotiations. What if they could get lower than your price by simply talking about it? You could cost yourself money and or time by walking in and out of dealerships.

They can do a dealer trade. I bought my truck under invoice and they just did a dealer trade. Took a few days, but it wasn't a big deal.

Found a good article about buying a new car and some tactics. Most of this is probably listed in here but maybe not.

These posts make me laugh. Shoppers go to Acura, Infiniti, import dealers etc. and none of these dealers sell for much less than invoice.
People shop at GM dealers and Ford dealers and dealers there sell in high volume especially the Lafayette market. The Lafayette market will sell behind dealer holdback all day everyday.
If you like the vehicle, and the dealership you visit just buy the car. It's only money. LOL

Bump to study later.
Also if they ask me if I have a trade in, should I lie and say no or just sit there and not respOnd.

Bump for Will Cover,
I am in a somewhat unique situation. I am currently working internationally and will be relocating back to the U.S. (Dallas) in late May/early June. I have been overseas for a while so I have no trade-in. I'm also going to be hitting the ground running almost right away at my new job and will need a car ASAP, but I don't want to get hosed. My company will expense me a rental for a short period of time, but I will need to get as much of the preliminary pricing and agreement process out of the way ahead of time.
Ideally I'd like to have a price borderline agreed upon via email and phone calls and the car already located. I've read some articles (Fromcartofinish.com has a lot of good stuff about buying online through a dealer) and didn't know if you had any additional tips for something like this. Most of your tips seem to be more for in-person negotiating, and I was just hoping to get as much information as possible before I start the process.
Thanks!

Looking at a used mazda3 for my daughter. Dealer has it listed at 12,500. What should I offer? I was thinking 11,000. How much markup is on a used car in this price range?

I'll say this about Acura of Baton Rouge and Infiniti of Baton Rouge - great people, great service and while their pricing is in line with the New Orleans Acura dealership, IMO neither aren't as willing to deal as an Acura dealership in Houston.
years ago I purchased a pre-owned from infiniti of BR - a few days later I went in for a customary oil change. After about 30 minutes the service manager comes up to me and apologizes about both the tires and the brakes - they didn't meet the specification checklist and should've been replaced before the car was placed for sale. They offered me a loaner and changed the tires and brakes. My wife has purchased her last three cars from them.

Both of those could have packages within packages so its tough to price...but I think im close.
Both 2015.
Toyota....52,450.00
Lexus.....57,200.00

11. Know the dealer’s “hold-back” price and what type of incentives that may be offered from the manufacturer or dealership.
I have also wanted to know regarding rebates, let's say the lowest a dealer can sell is $500 above dealer cost. Assuming a $10,000 dealer cost would mean $10,500. If there was a $2,000 rebated, could you get the car for $8,500?
