So this is what I have so far, but I'm running into problems connecting to it on vent. Some troubleshooting help would be great.

I can't see this very well on my phone (low resolution), but I'll try to help when I have access to a computer in a little while.

You can't put a price tag on the honor of playing computer games with me.

I used to be able to get away with using a halfway decent computer back in the early 00s, but that doesn't seem the case nowadays.

Are you having trouble connecting to the vent server FROM the vent server, or are you having issues connecting to the VENT server from a PC outside of your network?

This is my first time setting one up. I can't connect to what I have set up so far so I assume I missed something.

Is the PC your connecting from the same one that is running the vent server? What IP address are you entering for the Vent server?
ETA: If you're running the vent server locally, use the local IP address. If the vent server is hosted some where else and you're connecting to it, just ensure that you're using the correct IP/URL, the port number is correct, and the password is correct.

I would bet more than likely the port that the vent servetr is running on is closed. You need to forward the port to your ip through your router and then make sure your firet all is open for in and out connections on xyz port. The problem is that if this is your home computer your ip is not static and the address is going to change when your dhcp client is released with cox. Most non business internet connections are built this way to prevent you from doing things like this easily.

I figured it out a bit earlier. Thanks for the help!
