The family property -- 1,500 acres in Concordia Parish, which butts up against the Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge -- is better known as Fisher Properties, and is noted for producing trophy deer. Since the property features mostly hardwoods and river bottom, many of the deer taken range from 265 to 280 pounds in weight and 8 to 11 points.

nah, this kid will have plenty of opportunities to kill trophy deer with that type of property

Nah, will make them more interested.

Similar story. Girl wins the Kodiak big buck contest twice. Once as a ten year old, once as a 15 year old.

I drive right through that property every time I deer hunt. They have some fields that border the Cocodrie CRP. I bet they see lots of nice ones.

You need to stop by there and tell them how many points that deer actually had.

What's the hwy that goes through Monterey? It's on that side of Cochodrie, or at least I'm pretty sure it is.

15 starts at lettsworth follows the river north on the levee to ferriday @ hwy 84

Montery has 129 and something 500 but cocodrie doesn't meet up on any of those roads.

Yeah, but you turn off before you get to Horse Shoe lake and get to the refuge. Think it's Boggy Bayou road or something. Been years since I've been to the reserve. Like I said, it may be on the other side, but something makes me want to say I was told they hunted on the Monterey side.

no, this is off Poole rd next to Tiffe Field portion of Brooks Brake Unit. The refuge portion gets hunted 2x per year, for lottery youth hunts, and is all CRP. Perfect spot.
