Hank Haney's book on Tiger: The Big Miss (Obsessed with becoming a Navy Seal)

- not much on the affairs
- comes out end of March
"I think anybody who reads it will think it's interesting, very fair and honest, and that's what I wanted to do. I was on that job for six years. There were 110 days a year I was with him. I stayed at his house for close to 30 days a year. You make a lot of observations."
"What Hank soon came to appreciate was that Tiger was one of the most complicated individuals he’d ever met, let alone coached. Although Hank had worked with hundreds of elite golfers and was not easily impressed, there were days watching Tiger on the range when Hank couldn’t believe what he was witnessing. On those days, it was impossible to imagine another human playing golf so perfectly."

couple of excerpts released from the book:
- Haney writes in the book that he tried to convince Woods — whose father, Earl, was a special forces soldier in Vietnam — not to go on secret training exercises with the SEALs, but that Woods was obsessed with joining the Navy’s elite fighting unit.
- Haney also writes that by 2007, the pressure to perform was getting to Woods. When he was criticized for not winning a tournament, Woods would often complain that “nothing is ever good enough. For me, the job got harder. There was more urgency and less fun. Tiger was more irritable and impatient,” Haney writes. “He never mentioned Nicklaus’ record, but it started to weigh more heavily at every major. And Tiger’s actions indicated he believed he had less time to do it than everyone else thought. “In retrospect, 2007 was when Tiger began to lose the joy of playing and began to look at his career as something he wanted to get over with sooner rather than later. “And the most obvious sign was his growing obsession with the military.”

That link got nuked and the release date of the book got pushed back from April to July. I wonder if Tiger's involvement with the SEALS was classified and they are going to make Haney take that part out of his book?

I won't read the book because I don't agree with him writing it

The other link was more specific and talked about Tiger getting an age exemption if he decided to join and actually going on training missions with the SEALS.

Bad form on Haney's part. Tiger is reason he has his own TV show and charges God knows what for lessons. In return, Hank is gonna publish this right before the masters? C'mon man..
That being said, I will definitely be buying it.

It actually sounds pretty interesting and gives us a different perspective on Tiger Woods. Maybe it even makes him seem more human (or helps us understand how he operates). I could read this, for sure.

Sounds very interesting.. But I also don't like Haney doing this.

Why do people not like Haney doing this? Is it because he is exploiting Tiger's name for money, using his position for power, or some other reason?
