There are usually one or two legislators that give their tickets up to be raffled off for charity, or given to some good cause.

Few, but there's usually one or two decent guys.

My ticket is a legislator's ticket. My sister works for one. I am glad that these are given out. I usually only get to see one regular season game because I coach hs football, but I am usually given the opportunity to see their bowl game. If its close enough, I usually go.

Me, you, MM, JB, and MW are sitting in the suite this time. Got 'em through the legislature.

We can leave around halftime and head to the quarter.

They should not be afforded this opportunity. LSU receives no state funding for athletics unlike Tech, ULM, ULL, etc...

2/3's of these tickets are through the Sugar Bowl Committee and not LSU

How is this any different than someone who knows someone on the Sugar Bowl committee & gets tickets from them without having to go through the process?

People want to bitch because others have it easier either through connections, position, or wealth. You all sound like those "occupy" douchebags. Next thing you know, you will all be picketing outside of the Tiger Den Suites entrance because they get to watch games in a suite while you have to sit on a metal bleacher!

My apologies. This has been pointed out several times now.

Yes, it was. However....LOL...this is where I quit typing.

You're so FOS your breath stinks. This just one more form of graft. These people didn't DO anything to merit this other than get elected. They're a net drain on the state, and this is just one more example. If they actually voted in a way that benefited LSU, I still wouldn't like this, but I could understand it as a strategic move on LSU's part. These "esteemed representatives" don't even do that most of the time.

You don't know what you're talking about, as usual.

I'm guessing probably the majority will sell them for a nice Xmas bonus. Scoundrels.

The sentiment on this board is ridiculous. You people are mad at the wrong individuals. The legislators are not asking for tickets, so don't be mad a them. If you want to be upset, take it up with LSU and the Sugar Bowl Committee who are giving them the tickets. If someone offered you 6 tickets at face value, would you turn them down? Of course not, so why are you villifying the legislators for doing the same.

You people act as though the legistlators passed laws that forced LSU and the Sugar Bowl Committee to give them the tickets.

Do you people realize that even if LSU took back all of the tickets given to state reps and put them back in the pool for season ticket holders, that would only be what, 100-200 total tickets? The top 1-250 TAF ranked accounts would gobble those up too based on the requests.

All you people crying about the reps getting tickets... it wouldn't even matter if they didn't get them because you wouldn't have a chance at touching them anyway.

Which completely misses the point. It's not about the tickets, it's about the graft, and the fact that LSU doesn't even reap any goodwill from doing this. They use the tickets and they stick the knife in LSU's back in the next legislative session.

But, by that same token, they can pass laws making it improper to receive such benefits.

This statement lacks specifics. Can anybody tell me how this is justified? It seems like an arbitrary policy. It seems like outright unchallenged favoritism/cronyism in full public display.

Really? The legislative branch refuses to exercise the courage to get rid of colleges in this state (there are too many) so that the remaining can be properly funded. LSU has to bribe its own legislators in fear of more cuts - which just happened. Corruption.

Well said.

LSU is the state's flagship university and it has been reduced to begging the legislature for funding. Jindal has cut LSU to the bone once again. For someone who calls himself a reform governor, you'd think he would realize the value of a strong state university.

I'm guessing handful in this thread defending the practice are legislators themselves, or family, friends, or staff of legislators. At minimum, you know they're reading this, and they know what most of us think about them.
