With the rumor going around on the Rant that RR is heading to the NFL, which current recruit will have the chance to play as a freshman like OBJ33?

Avery Johnson (WR)
Kavahra Holmes (WR)
Travin Dural (WR)
Davante' Bourque (RB/WR)

Looks like we also have some nice sized TEs in this class. Two recruits at 6'5". Not sure of their catching ability, but that's good size.

I don't think any will have an OBJ type impact, because OBJ, Landry, Boone, Wright, etc. should all be ready to step up by next year, but Dural and Johnson have the highest ceilings IMO. Probably as good as any WR on the team besides RR

Also, about that Rumor. RR brother said that it's just a rumor. Not that he is definitely staying, but he said that no one has indicated that from their front.

Among the four coming in, the ones who contibute will be those who have both blocking and receiving skills. Which ones are showing blocking skills in highlites?

Avery-if he comes in ready to play and compete. Too much talent and nice size to sit.

Dural-he'll be the guy that is most ready. He just has a knack.

If Randle leaves 5 are set

Shepard
Wright
OBJ
Landry
Boone

These will battle

Williams-size is his biggest advantage and may win out
Fobbs
Turner-he and Fobbs are the same player to me

Unless those 3 are completely not ready in any way I can see none of the recruits playing. The top 5 are going to be the core guys and the other 3 can provide depth and play in mop up time.

I think Bourque stays at RB. I think some people are selling him short at that position.

Holmes probably has the highest ceiling.

Johnson will probably have the biggest impact. Hard to deny the genetics that run in that family...

From watching film, it looks to me like Turner is smoother, quicker and has better wiggle, while Fobbs has better straight-line speed but not as smooth an athlete.

To not answer your question, but to add fuel to the conversation: Holmes is the fastest and it's not even close.

Holmes is a track guy.

I saw on one site he's listed as a 4.4 in the 40, so you can take that for what it's worth.

I don't know how accurate these 40 times on recruiting websites are. For example it has Deion Jones (our recent LB commitment) running a 4.4 as well. He's 6'2" ~200 lbs and that just seems ridiculous for a LB.

Paul Turner was getting a lot of love in fall camp. Don't be surprised to see him get some playing time especially on kickoffs as returner.

Dural and Holmes can block...that is one of the things that they took pride in this season. A lot of TD runs came off of their blocks this season.

To answer the OP question, Dural is the most ready IMO. Holmes has a very high ceiling and gets better every game. Bourque never really played WR, so it may take him a year to learn the position (assuming they make that move). Never really saw much of Johnson, so other than the fact that he is PP7's brother, I don't really have an opinion on him.

Dural is highly underrated.

What's the word on JUCO WR Courtney Gardner? I think he said LSU and Arky was high on his list.

May, and I stress may, move to defense.

Out of those 4, I think Dural plays - if any play as true freshmen at WR. Holmes is a little more of a project, but he is lightning fast.

(Are we recruiting the QB at Breaux Bridge, too?)

Dural seems to be the most game ready as of today. Holmes has incredible speed.
