So I'm commission of our 14-team poli board league, and it appears that at least 1 player may have quit. He hasn't started any bye week players yet, but he's 1-6 and has not made a single transaction the entire year.

My question is what to do if he (or someone else who isn't really playing) decides not to start a full lineup - the easy answer would be to fill in the highest projected player for them, but this was never discussed at the start of the league, and also 2 other teams have started a bye week player this season which went unnoticed and uncorrected by me. So it doesn't seem fair to start implementing this rule in the middle of the season.

What would you do?

Run him, and fill the position.

If you cant do that, try to keep the team competitive if possible, if that means filling in his lineup each week, do so.

I had a similar situation in my league. Noticed the manager hadn't done a thing after the first couple of weeks. Ultimately decided, since the first two opponents got one, everyone deserved a rent-a-win.

Either no ones sets the lineup or you find a fill in for the vacant owner.

A fill in owner is the best thing to do.

Thanks - I can't give his team away until he actually quits though - like I said, he has started a full lineup each week.

But I just noticed his record and that he hasn't made a single move all year. Just trying to anticipate what to do if he starts not filling his lineup. Like I said, I don't know how fair it would be to fill his lineup, when I've let that go with 2 others this year.

i just got done writing a long rant to my league members about this same thing.

Nothing pisses me off more when people dont even bother putting a full fricking lineup out there.

I'm Commish in 2 leagues. We had one team start a bye week player and it appears that he may have given up at this point.
Becasue it wasn't discussed before the season started I dont feel that changing the line-ups as Commish is the right thing to do.
If you find someone to fill is spot you might wanna pass it by the league.
THe best option IMO would be to have the current team owner find a replacement.

Don't fill in his spots. That's not fair since you didn't fill in my spot when I wasn't paying attention one week and started a bye week player.

I agree - and this is all premature since he has started a lineup each week - I think I'll only step in for repeat offenders. But I realize most people have lives outside of FF and sometimes shite comes up

Your situations don't equate.

His lineup should be filled in fairness to those in the league fighting for playoff spots. If a playoff spot comes down to the last week or two, and Grif has guys on IR in his starting lineup, the person playing his team has too much of an advantage over others.

Your..."forgetfullness"...is only unfair to you.

Then he should stay in the league.

shite happens from time to time to even the best owners.

If it happens more than once it's time to take action and start at least setting an optimal lineup. I don't know how far that should go as far as adds/drops but if he has able bench players they need to go in.

Oh, and how's his music career doing out in LA?

I got second in fantasy basketball one year, and I never made a transaction.

Cross that bridge when you come to it. Why worry about something that might not happen? Not enough stuff to do?

A guy in our league started a bye-week player in each of the last 2 weeks, and won both times....

2nd week he did it on purpose because he did not want to drop anyone to pick up a shitty DEF for just one week.

Ya never know.

if its a money league i would leave him to be.. he's already been doing that all season, not fair to change now for others..

if its not a money league then ask him about it and try to find a replacement.
