Do people realize that the network broadcasting the game actually has to want to put it in primetime? Why would CBS want that game in primetime?

CBS can put the game whenever they want to. Why would they purposefully pick a time when they expect less viewers? Do you have a background in TV or are you just guessing?
I think most people on this board grossly underestimate how popular crappy sitcoms/reality TV is in this country. Whatever CBS has scheduled for that Friday evening is likely to get better ratings than the LSU-Arky game, otherwise, CBS would put it at a different time.

Maybe there are more people home at that time, but there's 48 other states that would rather watch a repeat of NCIS than than LSU/Arkansas. If CBS thought there would be more eyes watching a football game at that time, they would air a football game.
